@mjrovai @seeedstudio my $15 #xiaoEsp32S3 arrived all three of them. Canadian Import tax was a bit high at $25 CDN not sure if that is fixed or increases if I purchased more.

Excited to test the camera, mic and WiFi to see if it works with robotics, @EdgeImpulse
#ml and #tinyML ImageImage
WiFi antennae was hard to push on, not sure why, I have done a ton before. Camera clipped in easy.

Off course my setup is not standard so installing the board is a pain. Great instructions at wiki.seeedstudio.com/xiao_esp32s3_g…

I can now load _basically_ every atom from an entire bacterial cell, into #blender3d and #geometrynodes via #molecularnodes. Each macromolecule is down to atomic detail where available via CellPack, totalling ~250,000,000 points, all rendering (quite quickly) in Cycles #b3d A 3D rendering of the inside of a Mycoplasma Genitaliam cell
Again this is the fabulous dataset from CellPack (pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34774566/) by @MartinaMaritan
@MartinaMaritan I'm very much looking forward to making some cool animations now that I it's all inside of and manipulateable by #geometrynodes. @JacquesLucke this isn't quite on the scale of the human cells in the Blender HQ, but it's getting pretty close!

Day 260 of #Blender3d| #b3d

I generated an image using #stablediffusion and #DALLE 2

I put the image into #ICON to turn it into a 3D model.

Then I used #mixamo to animate the model. (Then did a little extra thing with Blender) Details below!
How I did it:
1️⃣ Generate Image Using @playground_ai which has both #DALLE & #stablediffusion.

I chose stable diffusion.

Got some LINEWORK comments on my Lantern post
So here's a thread on Linework process & my learnings from this project:

1/12
Linework is a topic Tech-Artists think a lot about—It’s partly why I started this project: ImageImage
2/13
Like w/ any Realtime Shading Feature, the best solutions balance Fidelity, Workflow, & Performance.

The general problem with linework in games comes down to Texture res vs. Memory, and Compression-artifacts/Pixelation—especially if players can get really close to objects.
3/13
Increasing texture-res for each asset, even with optimal UVs, just doesn’t move the needle enough to be practical. It would also have major fidelity issues on low-spec hardware, mobile, etc. So just drawing the lines was a no-go:

ex: Look at them gnarly pixels😱 Image

you can quickly get a different set of dots by changing the 'distance metric' from the voronoi texture node
you are not limited to just those shapes though, as you can replace the gradient with your favorite distance function, such as a heart ❤️ (obtainable from #b3dsdf)

👁👄👁 Eye Dart Animation Tip!

⏩ Eye darts are a great way to add life to an otherwise still moment.

They convey that the character is alive and thinking. When animating eye darts, keep in mind these simple pointers... (1/5)🧵👇👇👇
#b3d #animtip #blender3d #animation #anim
Quick and Snappy!

👉 The dart should happen over 1 frame, or you can add a 1 frame ease close to the new position (it should be barely noticeable). If the eye is traveling a large distance, you can add a smear frame like in this animation of Dolores from Encanto. (2/5)🧵👇👇👇
📐 Natural: Irregular in timing/spacing/shape
The goal is to make the motion believable.
Make sure the timing between the darts is not the same and the eye doesn’t travel the same distance every time. Have an irregular triangle or rhomboid shaped path! (3/5)🧵👇👇👇

Dear Artists 👋

No matter if your home is #Blender3D, #Cinema4D, #AfterEffects, #Houdini , #Substance or #Photoshop, projects grow organically. You iterate and explore, clients request variations or change their mind.

🧵 A thread about version control and how it can help. (1/8)
💡 Version control is a workflow that originated in the software industry and is the standard for software development.

❄️ This difficult and technical concept is made dead simple by Snowtrack. Our tool makes version control accessible to all creatively minded. (2/8)
🗄 Version control manages your project and file iterations. It allows you to save the entire state of your project directory and restore it when needed. (3/8)

✨Making realtime volumetric effects with raymarching

A thread 🧵
#blender #b3d #Blender3D
So what exatly is raymarching, and why should I care?

Essentially, raymarching is a mind-bogglingly simple method for rendering 3D surfaces based off of a greyscale texture.
(1/?)
To get a better idea of what's going on here, lets look at an example in 2D.

Every "step", the point checks how far it is from the nearest surface, and moves in a given direction based off that distance.
The more steps, the closer the point gets to the actual surface.

How to make convincing (and fake) caustics in #b3d!

🧵
#Blender3D #blender
Step one: Get a texture!

Any image or procedural texture works fine for this. Keep in mind that tileable textures will yield a much nicer result (if you are using an image texture).
I found that this image from OpenGameArt works quite well: opengameart.org/content/water-… Image
Step 2: Animation!

While the texture I found does happen to already be animated, animating it procedurally is quite simple and allows for much more control.
To begin, lets get the cosine and sine of our frame number and combine those two values into a vector like so: Image

I'm now hooked on developing physical automotive materials in Eevee #Blender3d

This time - suede (Alcantara) with varying fiber direction and fingerprint-y anodized aluminum.
The suede material is fully procedural (using Blender built-in Noise) It will look even nicer with real Alcantara surface texture. Fiber flow is again a larger noise color texture, converted to a normal map. ImageImageImage

Hey 2d art folks!
If you are interested in learning #Blender3d to create references/kitbash for your concept art/illustration/comics, I compiled a few beginner tutorials geared towards scene setup, lighting, materials, and importing pre-made models instead of modelling~
First, @grantabbitt did a fantastic Blender 3 intro that focuses on moving basic objects around, giving them materials, setting up lighting and fog, and rendering a scene!
A useful thing to learn next is how to take advantage of asset markets to quickly set up props for a scene~ you'll need to know the basics of how to import (link/append) those files! This is a great video on that specific topic:
