UNITED AT LAST
Bo and Bella, the two young female chimpanzees we rescued from Guinea Bissau in April, finally made physical contact for the first time this morning. For the past three months, the two have been living separately in quarantine 1/3
but after they were given a clean bill of health, our team allowed them to meet each other this morning. Minutes after their introduction, they were jumping playfully and chasing one another as if they have known each other for years. 2/3
Thank you to everyone who showed support to Bo and Bella during this incredible journey. We shall post more updates in the coming days. 3/3

Our in-house veterinarian, Dr. Stephen Ngulu said this: "We are pleased to be able to offer Bo and Bella a safe and secure home. The repatriation of these chimpanzees to Sweetwaters is in line with our goal of offering lifelong care for orphaned and abused chimpanzees.
Bo and Bella are now in quarantine for 90 days to allow us to properly evaluate their health and help them acclimatize to their new home. ”

We will send news of Bo and Bella as soon as we can, but be assured that they are under proper care here at Sweetwaters.

Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary is this week preparing to welcome two new little rescued chimpanzees, whose families were viciously killed for bushmeat. Both young females, Bo and Bella, have had a terrifyingly traumatic start to life and are in desperate need of a safe haven.
They will be arriving at Ol Pejeta on the 26th April 2018. For over a year, they have been kept in custody at Cufada Park HQ in Guinea Bissau, and we are delighted to be able to offer them refuge and the chance to make a new family in their new lives here in Kenya.
