Some models may overestimate the effects of climate change. But even very good models can be wrong the other way, too: bigger changes hitting us sooner than we thought, and more difficult to reverse or adapt to.
If anything, climate models seem to underestimate, more than they overestimate, local effects of climate change. We are not prepared for this -- not only for the extreme weather events themselves, but for their lasting impacts.

Thread on the #BootlegFire #wildfire in Oregon
Katy O’Hara says the fire is large it’s creating logistical issues.

This incident base at Chiloquin is at the western edge of the fire, where most of the containment is.

Many of the firefighters are camping closer to the Fire.

Update: In the past four days the Bootleg Fire in southern Oregon has burned another two-and-a-half San Francisco's worth of forest and continues to produce its own weather + lightning.

It's not expected to be fully contained until late November.

Update: Smoke from the Bootleg Fire and other western wildfires has now spread across the entire North American continent and is now swirling across the Atlantic Ocean towards Europe.
