People *think* BPD just started attacking people. But what appears to have happened is the outside white agitators who were causing a background ruckus all day started throwing things at the cops to incite them to respond
Once the cops responded with rubber bullets and tear gas, the agitators started busting in businesses, set a cop car on fire, and have now been looting for the past 30-45 minutes. If I had to take a wild guess, the BPD had intel that this was going to happen...

I was at the #BostonProtest from 7 until roughly 9:30.

Don't believe the narrative being pushed by the @bostonpolice, @marty_walsh, the media.

The protests were peaceful. The police were not.

A thread:
First, I want to give a shout-out to the organizers of the event. They put together a march in a short amount of time. I saw plenty of march wardens keeping things tidy, legal observers keeping a careful eye, people passing out masks and water every block or so. Amazing work.
The route passed underneath @TuftsMedical. Medical staff lined the windows and cheered the crowd on, and the crowd responded in kind.

We had each other's back. Solidarity.

#BostonProtests My experience: For about 95% of the protest is was non-violent. We marched from Nubian(Dudley) square all the way to the statehouse and Boston Commons. Near the end of the protest, we gathered in the commons to chant and dance to spread awareness of BLM...
It was until people started running and screaming from the south side of the commons that there was some sort of "chemical" being dispersed by the drones that followed us throughout the protest. From here, everything fell into shambles. Our peaceful protest was interrupted...
Boston Police Department(BPD) had a motorcade run through to block off Winter street and set up blockades near Downtown Crossing. Some of our white counter-parts threw harmless trash but some threw frozen water bottles...
