Elijah McLain's murder a thread 1/?
Initial 911 call reported no criminal activity. He was given 42 seconds to explain his innocence before his lynching.

Elijah McLain's murder 2/?
Here wee see Elijah first get put in a chokehold and beg for his breath he's clearly terrified and not sure why he is under arrest. Which is fair because there was never a crime reported.
Elijah McLain's murder part 3/? Here we see Elijah beg for forgiveness. Trying to justify his humanity. He is clearly unwell from the chokeholds he says he still can't breathe and is puking.

.@louisvillemayor announced that @LMPD Officer Brett Hankison has been fired. The press conference lasted less than a minute.
Attorneys for #BreonnaTayor claimed Hankison fired more than 20 shots into Taylor's apartment and that of her neighbors and then went AWOL afterwards
From @louisvillemayor:
“Unfortunately, due to a provision in state law that I very much would like to see changed, both the Chief and I are precluded from talking about what brought us to this moment, or even the timing of this decision."
Hankison has a long history of being investigation by police, but w/ little discipline. Most recently, the mayor demanded that Hankison be removed from the Louisville Police Merit Board after several woman came forward claiming he sexually assaulted them.

In honor of #JUNETEENTH2020, here are some actions I’ve taken that other white people can do.
I’ve been donating to local bail funds, as well as organizations that protect and uplift Black communities. The @NAACP_MVAB got some money from me this morning.
I’ve been calling @DanielCameronAG and asking him to fire the police officers who murdered #BreonnaTayor. Here’s his office number: (502) 696-5300

This is a huge achievement owed entirely to #BreonnaTaylor's family and #SayHerName activists in Louisville and around the world. It will save lives, and it also isn't a substitute for the demand to #DefundPolice. That also needs to happen for there to be #JusticeForBreonna.
Cities ban choke holds and police still use them. Cities ban tear gas and police still use it. Cities pass all kinds of laws in the wake of violent abuses of power, and the abuse continues. Shrinking police power, numbers, & weaponry is the best bet at stopping it. #DefundPolice
#BreonnaTayor wasn't just killed by police conducting a no-knock raid. She was killed as an act of retribution, of intentional malice. How do you ban that? You can't. But you can take power and resources away from the body that keeps committing retaliatory violence. #DefundPolice

Today’s anti-racism protest in Parliament Square was such a beautiful, peaceful gathering of people remembering the names of #GeorgeFlyod, #BreonnaTayor, #BellyMujinga, #markduggan and too many other who have been brutally killed by sistemic racism.
People kneeled, chanted, sung. They called on the Uk to stop exporting arms to the USA, to decolonize British curricula, to end the disproportionate use of stop and search on BAME communities
They called on ordinary people to become anti-racist. Non being racist is not enough
