Let's be clear
1. Magna Carta breaks if 2016 includes No Deal

2. The tories need a General Election because No Deal is unlawful.

No Deal is "Bullocks"

You should all understand this. Only 7 tweets are needed
Magna Carta clause 12.
The limitation of the divine right of kings, or these days dictators & prevention of tyranny

The barons basically said to the king that, "you rule us because we say you do".

This in turn became the Consent of the Governed, the basis of our Democracy
Consent is not open-ended, it cannot be given through omission, not can it be invented after the event, not can it be extrapolated from decisions which were not an option at the time.

Any of these factors would undermine the point of the clause, to limit divine arbitrary rule

Couple of points on latest "outrages"
1) vote Tory in a GE - Vote for some undefined fantasy position between no deal & a great deal

Vote Labour - Vote for some undefined position between a great deal & remain via a referendum

Vote Lib Dem - Vote for Remain

#Brexit
2) if Lib Dems get a majority, it's a new, fresh democratic mandate for Remain that overrides the 2016 Ref

If Tories or Labour get a majority, it's not a mandate for anything that can be defined because they won based on an unknown - that great deal that hasn't been defined
3) If Lib Dems *don't* get a majority, there is no clear mandate and the only way to solve #Brexit is via a 2nd Referendum - this is Lib Dem policy

Only the Lib Dems could claim a mandate for anything on #Brexit following a GE, the other 2 parties could not

The EU Dictatorship refuse to negotiate a fair withdrawal deal, b/c they know if they agree to one it will encourage other countries to leave the anti democracy & deeply corrupt EU, that is intent on destroying Europe.

The ONLY way we can ever leave is via "No Deal"

#BrexitVote
People repeatedly fail to mention the EU has a large trade surplus with the UK & will be hurt very badly by a "No Deal" #Brexit.

Especially export economies like Germany.

Why should the onus be on us to come up with a deal?
Let's leave & put the pressure on the EU.
#BrexitVote
The UK is the largest per capita net contributor to the EU budget & 2nd largest overall.

The EU budget will be a total mess when we leave

We certainly should NOT pay the £39bn extortion payment.
If anything the EU should be paying US £50bn for lying us into joining

Rebel Bill passes first reading stage by 329 votes to 300. One more rebel? (1 better than last night.) Now follows a mass sprint to garland it in amendments. Speaker will then have to pick which ones he accepts and round the loop we go again. #BrexitVote
Perhaps clarified by the below. We'll know for sure whether she's our newest friend in a few minutes. If she is, please welcome her warmly.
Boris Johnson's majority now -45, it would seem.

Good morning and welcome to another #Brexit thread

I'll be attempting to cover the events that are happening both in the Commons and in the Lords today so this is going to be a long one

1/n
So first things first, hello to all my new followers and here's a quick breakdown of what's happening today, and a quick precis of how business in each House is carried out and why really arcane things seem to happen that bear little-to-no relationship to reality

2/n
What's expected for today?

In the Lords the Opposition and Crossbench peers have laid a motion that will allow them the time to scrutinise the Bill that's about to be debated in the Commons. They want to debate this Bill on Friday at the latest. More on that later

Send this to every MP who's thinking of voting for the Brexit deal.
#BrexitVote
peoples-vote.uk/not_having_it
Have MPs become so binary in their thinking that they would vote for a Brexit which even under their own ideology is worse than staying in the EU, just because they can technically call it Brexit?
Let's start with Jacob Rees-Mogg.

He's changed his tune his tune. In 2016 he said leaving was better than staying. In November, he said the Brexit deal was worse than staying. Now he's saying the Brexit deal is better than staying.
He's changed his mind twice!

Why did I support and vote for Brexit?

THREAD.

RT

#Brexit #BrexitVote
I supported Leave for a variety of reasons. I didn't think the UK fit well into the EU. Didn't think our membership was sustainable. Believed it blighted our political debate. Thought consistent public scepticism & apathy to EU elections was part of this. These issues remain.
I thought EU membership brought out the worst in our politicians. They used it as a convenient scapegoat. They pretended to dislike policies implemented via the EU & used this to abdicate responsibility & avoid accountability.

Lieber @RegSprecher,
Lieber @HeikoMaas,
PS: This was a call for responsibility I added to my lecture at the Karlsruher Gespräche. You can watch the whole lecture here -- it is actually mostly in English:

I regret the outcome of tonight's #Brexitvote. It is disappointing that the UK government has been unable to ensure a majority for the Withdrawal Agreement agreed by both parties in November, even after multiple additional assurances from the EU. A solution must come from London.
The EU continues to stand by the Withdrawal Agreement, including the backstop, which serves to prevent a hard border in Ireland and preserve the integrity of the single market unless and until alternative arrangements can be found.
With only 17 days left until March 29th, the Dutch government will keep working tirelessly to make sure the damage for NL and Dutch citizens living and working in the UK is minimised in the now more likely case of a no-deal #Brexit.

A #Brexit extension is “almost inevitable”

Scottish First Minister wants Labour’s Corbyn to

2/ Sturgeon on Theresa May:

“she should change her approach... 1st thing she should do is request an extension to #Article50

So @Jacob_Rees_Mogg, after last night's #BrexitVote, proceeded to host a champagne party for fellow Brexiters, incl @BorisJohnson, @DavidDavisMP & @KateHoeyMP. At the same time I sat on my sofa and talked with fellow EU citizens. 1/ theguardian.com/politics/2019/…
Like Mr Rees-Mogg's party that was also pretty ad hoc, so we didn't have any "canapes or nibbles" either. We just talked/wrote about the vote and the impact it would have on #citizensrights. And I wanted to know how I might best deal with the despair I was seeing in so many 2/

#BrexitVote – the view from Europe (Thread)
Germany's Die Welt: “After the defeat, everything is possible again"
France's Le Monde: “The scale of the defeat, more stinging than the most alarming predictions, means that tinkering will not be sufficient to change MPs’ opinions, as the prime minister had hoped.”

Why we need to revoke article 50 now.
Politicians are too afraid to speak out against the EU referendum result because they’re scared they’ll be accused of undermining democracy ...
#BrexitVote
and sensible journalists are also mostly too afraid to speak out, lest they’re accused of being in a middle-class, out-of-touch establishment bubble – which of course most of them are.
But I’m not a politician or a journalist. So here’s the truth.
The Brexit referendum result was NOT democratic.
The Brexit campaign was riddled with lies, dodgy 'dark' money and manipulation.
The so-called ‘facts’ used by the Leave campaign were laughably ridiculous fabrications.

I'm going to keep arguing like this and I'm not sorry.
I will point out that immigration culturally, economically and medically enriches our society. But I won't convince everyone in 4 months. So for those who only see it as a negative, I'll point out the EU's safeguards on that.
There are those whose principles prevent them from taking a two-pronged approach and I respect that (even if one such person did call me "disgraceful" for my approach today) but for me I have one priority: Preventing something which would in fact do FAR more harm to EU citizens.
I was sat there on @BBCPolitics #PoliticsLive surrounded by politicians all treating Free Movement as a big problem completely unchallenged until I set them all straight. As I've done with Farage, and repeatedly across news and social media.

There is no left-wing justification for Brexit. This is a project about neoliberal deregulation. It is Thatcherism on steroids.

My full #MeaningfulVote speech to the Commons here: facebook.com/DavidLammyTott…
This country’s greatest moments came when we showed courage, not when we appeased.

Friends and colleagues tell me to appease Brexit voters. I say we must not patronise them with cowardice. Let’s tell them the truth. "You were sold a lie." #MeaningfulVote #BrexitVote
This is the fundamental dishonesty at the heart of the Brexit debate. Most MPs now recognise it in private, but do not say it in public:

Brexit is a con. A trick. A swindle. A fraud.

A deception that will hurt most those people it promised to help.

Theresa May can't go forward or backward. UK parliament ready to take her down, but she's been the dead wolf since day 1 and she's still here. People without parliamentary democracies don't understand the drama & entertainment they are missing. #BrexitVote

The entire country will be angry and unhappy it leaves many issues unresolved it means years of nothing but bickering over brexit when the country is sick of it
It means remainers are furious for losing the benefits of EU membership leavers will be furious because in effect her deal will be the largest transfer of sovereignty from a nation state to Brussels in the history of the European Union #Brexit
