NATIONAL SECURITY: WHY POLITICIANS FAIL

According to Harold Lasswell politics is the power to determine who gets what, when and how much, meaning that power is about the allocation and distribution of resources.
The values behind the distribution of resources determine if a country is developed or poor. In Nigeria the commanding values of disunity and deceit overburden the state. These are values that deny the person peace of mind, leading to a rat race as the state belongs to nobody.
The politics of the moment can only exacerbate the chaos of poverty and violence as it is not politics to serve the common good.

Highlights:

*Buhari’s refusal to sack defense chiefs has worsened the security situation of Nigeria
*Politics is about survival and interest

WHY FOLAKE OTUYELU RELOCATED TO THE U.S

Listen here:

Folake Otuyelu is a household name in Western Nigeria where she used the Yoruba language to explicitly tell news stories. Her mastery of the language made Tifuntedo on SplashFM, Ibadan, a delight. Image
Her interviews addressed the core issues of stagnated development in Yorubaland. She put policy makers on their toes. She confronted the ills of society using radio and found herself on the wrong side of those aggrieved by her style, tenacity and courage.
What would have made such a renowned broadcaster abandon her profession and left for the United States of America (USA)?

COVID-19 CONSPIRACY AGAINST CHINA

Listen here

Some have termed COVID-19 the Chinese Virus to remind the world it came from China. Chinese people in Europe, America and even in Asia are now facing virus-related racism and xenophobia - Sinophobia. Image
Some have labelled the Chinese as bioterrorists.
The anger against Mainland China in places like Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines is tied to China’s domineering economy and infrastructural expansion in the region.
With the outbreak of COVID-19, century long disputes and historic grievances find expression in the conspiracy theory that China invented the virus to dominate its neighbours and by extension uproot the economic hegemony of the west.

NIGERIA IN CRISIS: BALEWA ARRESTS AZIKIWE

Listen to the presentation

What Odia Ofeimu refers to as the first coup in Nigeria was the failure of Nnamdi Azikiwe, President of Nigeria, to rally the military to his side during the 1964 election crisis. Image
In a battle of supremacy with the Prime Minister, Tafawa Balewa, Zik had thought the military would take the final order from him. This was not to be as the colonial head of the Army, Major General Welby-Everald was advised to take the side of Tafawa Balewa, forcing Zik to renege
on his well published stance that he will not call on Balewa to form a new government after the manipulated election.

In this presentation, Ofeimu, author of the book Taking Nigeria Seriously, examines the political intrigues of the early 1960s in Nigeria.

HERDSMEN KILLED MY COUSIN AND HER CHILDREN — @MailafiaObadiah
Listen:

There are eight bloody days in June.
The call for safety is intense, yet the marauders tighten their grips on their automatic weapons, invading communities, leaving sorrow behind.
The killers in the month of June 2019 were as rampaging as in the months before. Within an eight day period from June 16, they operated in communities, countering the defenses of the state.
They go berserk in communities in Shiroro LGA of Niger State killing about 70 people.
The displacement of persons is huge. Mostly affected are women and children. The Nigerian Police confirms the attacks saying only 12 persons were killed. Fingers point at brutal “Fulani” herdsmen.

Herdsmen are also reported to be responsible for the attack in Kagboro community
