The projected railway line "Termez - Mazar-Sharif - Kabul - Peshawar" will allow to form new and shortest transit corridors, connecting the largest markets of Southeast Asia with the markets of the #CIS countries, #China and #Europe.
In general, the implementation of the trans-Afghan railway project will reduce the time and cost of cargo transportation by 30-40%.
Estimated volumes of transportation for the first time for the first time of operation can grow to 3 million tons, and by 2030 more than 15 million tons per year.

Thread: 26 October 2022: Day 245 of #Russia's invasion of #Ukraine
Latest @DefenceHQ update: the governor of Belgorod within #Russia announced on Oct. 24 that the main rail line linking Russia and #Belarus was sabotaged by "Stop the Wagons" (StW), ostensibly a "Russian anti-war group".
It does not take an especially suspicious mind to believe that "Stop the Wagons" (StW) is supported by, if not fabricated by, #Ukraine's intelligence services, which suggests a serious issue for #Russia, at least in the key war staging areas on the border.

My new article just out @ForeignAffairs argues that the #US and #China are not directly competing for #SoftPower. Instead, what we are witnessing is #coexistence of their distinct approaches and practices. foreignaffairs.com/articles/china… 1/10
First, I contrast the more ideational or ideological #SoftPower conception and practice by the #US with the more #pragmatic approach of #China. The #US emphasizes liberal values, whereas #China stresses material welfare and mutual development as part of its vision. 2/10
The #US public diplomacy celebrates and promotes idealized vision of #American democracy. #China promotes its economic accomplishments and fuses practical benefits with cultural programming. This distinction is especially notable in the #GlobalSouth. 3/10

Great article. From UK.
Why wait?
My comments below.
@EMDSerono helps people in USA afford Clabridine but can someone with #CIS Clinically Isolated Syndrome #MultipleSclerosis get the drug ordered?
Medicaid would not cover and probably Medicare too. Mg
@GavinGiovannoni So Twitter came through with Clabridine ad and safety profile. Even the drug company warns. Back to hit or miss opportunity? Lost days of opportunity to prevent or halt nerve destruction. Keep trying. And please think Gadolinium and retention. You’ve had some.

Hey twitter!

CIS is not a slur, and the cis people who banned the trans woman from twitter for using the word "cis" should be fired.

CIS CIS CIS CIS CIS.
Seriously. We're gonna use the word #cis all day because #cis means not trans.

Don't let TERFs take over this damn platform and kick out trans women for calling #cis women #cis women.

So we've got a general election in #Spain today. Socialist PM Pedro Sánchez is the frontrunner, although it's not certain that he will be able to put up a ruling majority. Here's a thread with a few thoughts on #28A:

1/
What's new?

a) The Socialists are set to win, a first since 2008
b) Five national parties will get over 10% of the vote
c) The far-right will enter parliament, a first since 1982
d) The conservative PP faces an assault on the right not seen since the UCD collapsed in the 80s

2/
The campaign has been heavily polarized between left and right.

The right (PP + Ciudadanos + Vox) has focused on #Catalonia, hammering Sánchez's credibility and accusing him of being ready to cut the country into pieces for the sake of remaining in office.

Today we release our annual @wiiw_news Autumn #Forecast Report, with macroeconomic projections for #CESEE out to 2020. Below, a thread on the highlights 1/13

Over the #forecast period we expect best growth performance in #EUCEE and #WesternBalkans, although both will slow by 2020. Outlook for #CIS & #Ukraine weaker. 3/13

Recently, a #tenured #prof at a grp dinner made a #sexist joke. I didn't laugh.

He pointed at me & called me out on it.

"See, I knew SHE wouldn't get it."

I reported it to an #administrator & copied a 1st yr prof also present at dinner. She corroborated my story.

Thread 1/7
Like me, she couldn't say anything during dinner as senior prof collaborated w/ our prog, which he reminded us several times. The administrator I spoke to was sympathetic & concerned, & assured us that senior prof is a well-known a**. We aren't the 1st to run afoul of him. 2/7
Hearing their responses validated my experience greatly.

The 3 of us discussed how junior prof & I would deal w/ future events. One way was to ask senior prof to clarify his "jokes."

Junior prof said this was likely to be the least destructive. Administrator agreed. 3/7
