2/28. In the informal stocktaking plenary last night, we heard many interventions from developing country Parties highlighting their concerns regarding efforts by developed country Parties to remove references to the principles of the Convention across all thematic areas.
3/28. Under the Convention, Parties agree to protect the climate system “on the basis of equity and in accordance with their common but differentiated responsibilities and respective capabilities (CBDR-RC).” These are important agreed principles that must be preserved.

1/ Je remonte dans mes archives pour retrouver la répétition à l'identique des alertes sur le réchauffement climatiques, sans qu'aucune n'est le moindre effet, sans que rien d'autre ne soit entrepris que d'accélérer vers le gouffre.
2/ Elisabeth Borne, c'était il y a quatre ans, avait justement cette image de l'accélération pour donner l'illusion d'une politique climatique.

1/13 Depuis + de 30 ans, les petits Etats insulaires se battent pour que les pays membres de la @UNFCCC admettent que réduire les émissions de gaz à effet de serre ou s’adapter ne sera pas suffisant. Certains impacts climatiques, les pertes et dommages, sont déjà irréversibles.
2/13 Ils peuvent être soit la conséquence de phénomènes météorologiques extrêmes tels que des ouragans, cyclones, inondations ou feux de forêt, soit le résultat de phénomènes à occurrence lente comme la montée du niveau des mers, l’érosion côtière ou les sécheresses.

Here’s the problem: the profits of the #FossilFuel economy are kept largely separate from its costs. That means that countries/companies/investors who generate products and burn fuels that cause #ClimateChange pocket the profits while others pay the price. 💵 (2/15)
As a result, #FossilFuels appear profitable, and there’s massive incentive for political and economic structures to treat these industries as wealth creators. Which creates incentives for climate denial, downplaying the role of the #FossilFuel industry, etc. (3/15)

Rappelons d’abord qu’une COP est une conférence diplomatique.
Elle ne prend pas comme les Etats des lois ou décrets aux effets immédiats pour les gens.
Elle vise à faire converger près de 200 États, aux intérêts très différents, pour lutter contre le dérèglement climatique.

Rappelons aussi que le moment fondateur c’est la #COP21 et l’Accord de Paris : c’est ce qui a fixé un cadre mondial pour maintenir le réchauffement climatique sous 2 degrés - et de préférence à 1,5 degré - d’ici 2100.
Les COP servent maintenant à mettre en œuvre cet Accord.

C'est très important et vient confirmer ce que nous affirmons depuis des années : la lutte contre le réchauffement climatique exige de passer par un ZERO investissement dans les énergies fossiles, et pas seulement d'augmenter les investissements dans les énergies renouvelables.
En 2015, avant la #COP21, avec @nicohaeringer, nous avions défendu cette proposition dans une tribune pour @libe : il est urgent de limiter la production de charbon, de gaz et de pétrole, et non seulement la consommation.
