Indonesia, one of the countries that have vaccinated many of its frontline medical workers with #COVDI19 vaccines from #China, has recorded 401 deaths of medical doctors since the pandemic began. At least 20 of them were fully vaccinated with Sinovac. nytimes.com/2021/06/25/wor…
In Kudus, where Dr. Suhendro practiced, 358 medical workers who were fully vaccinated with Sinovac tested positive during a two-week span, according to the risk mitigation team of the Indonesian Doctors Association.
Indonesia has vaccinated less than 5 percent of its population, despite having started inoculations in January. Of those who have been vaccinated, most received doses of Sinovac, which may be less effective against certain variants.

"The first lesson we can learn from this #COVDI19 pandemic is that we can only succeed together. No country alone will save itself & will save the others. Every citizen around the world has understood that this pandemic is a global one."

Amid its worst #COVDI19 outbreak, #Taiwan continues to witness a surge of relevant disinformation. During the daily presser at 9:30, the CECC pointed out that there has been rumors like "dead bodies of #COVID19 patients were dumped in rivers" ...cna.com.tw/news/firstnews…
... as well as "chat history from doctors show that the government is faking #COVDI19 data" circulating across #Taiwan. Health officials said they have found several online contents containing languages typically used in #China and simplified characters.
The content includes the two examples highlighted above and police investigation showed that these rumors originate from foreign IP addresses.

Meanwhile in #France,
"the peak of this second wave is over"

(according to the President in his Adress to the Nation):
Wait... "the peak is over" doesn´t mean "it´s back to normal"!

Confinement will only fall on December 15,
if there´s less than 5.000 new cases a day.
(today it´s ~9.000).

France is disappointed.🙁

Although they certainly can make it happen.
Meanwhile in #Switzerland:
(excess mortality of the second wave is significant)

Good news: fastest decrease in infections happens in the worst hit areas now.

As #COVID19 cases are found to spread, #Melbourne (city of ~5 million) tries to contain them by going into #Lockdown.
(The interview features the idea of a dedicated #Quarantine building - that would actually help, I guess)...
"People acting as if the pandemic was over was 'not the answer, it is part of the problem' ".

"The virus had leaked from postcodes already under the stay-at-home orders to other parts of #Melbourne."
(and beyond, it is feared).
Due to #Melbourne's outbreak, neighbouring South Australia is about to completely close it's borders to #Victoria.

(Nearly) no exceptions. And those essential few who are allowed in, will have to wear facemasks the entire time...

Vorpommern-Greifswald district (where rejections of #Gütersloh residents took place, yesterday)
has specific rules:
"Those who return from international risk areas (out of Germany) or whose Corona-Warning App has alerted them, need to report to authorites"
kreis-vg.de Image
In fact, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern's Corona-ordinance really prohibits entry of people from international risk areas AND german risk areas as well.
It's just not prominently featured on their websites.

(Overlooked that myself, hence deleted earlier tweet)

People from #Gütersloh district may have to scrap all their holiday plans anyway...

An official #Lockdown is just being announced for the entire district.

@carolecadwalla @globalhlthtwit @devisridhar @richardhorton1 @Dr2NisreenAlwan @Johnrashton47 This was @tomaspueyo on 14 March soon after his article saying “the UK must lock down now” went viral.

Also interviewed here is Prof John Edmunds - one of the govt’s key modellers. On Sunday, Edmunds admitted to #Marr that late lockdown was a mistake.
@carolecadwalla @globalhlthtwit @devisridhar @richardhorton1 @Dr2NisreenAlwan @Johnrashton47 @tomaspueyo Writing in @TheLancet in January, @richardhorton1 had spelled out the danger posed by #coronavirus.

Here on #BBCQT he describes the government’s inaction as “a national scandal,” & says the UK “wasted February” when we should have been preparing.

Gotten questions about reactivation/reinfection with #SARSCoV2 & wanted to see some data

But since data isn't a requirement these days for #COVID19 speculation, I'll offer:

I doubt this is some kind of herpes virus like latency/reactivation

RNA positive PCR is not live virus
So what is happening? Here are possibilities

1) These people hadn't cleared the virus in the 1st place

2) The viral RNA remains in debris/damage after virus is cleared & pushes + test as it is repaired

3) #SARSCov2 evolved a complex latency/reactivation mechanism
For 1) hadn't cleared the virus

Test sensitivity is dependent on quality of the sample & threshold of RNA observed.

If sample quality wasn't great the results could lead to false negative.

If low amount vRNA, it may also impact. Would want to know CT values to interpret

Starting day 21 of gathering, verifying and translating #COVID19 related news in Iran

Picking up from yesterday's thread

I am doing this, not because I am equipped for it, but because no one else did and felt compelled:

On day 21, almost 3 weeks, it is time for some reflection.

I saw the sheer horror that #COVID19 causes, while rest of the world were complacent and assuming all this was in lands so far away.

What I had was a twitter account with 1409 followers, mostly focusing on AI and tech.
