1/8 #COVID19 key concerns in 🇨🇦: Today, I am taking a moment to reflect on the updated numbers. Although we read and post these numbers online everyday, we can’t forget that each case is a person, with family, friends & community.
2/8 All have confronted illness & uncertainty; some have endured painful separation during severe illness & hospitalisation and too many have suffered the unspeakable pain of a loved one lost to #COVID19. #COVIDloss #COVIDCoping
3/8 As I take a step back to reflect on the human stories behind the numbers today, I want acknowledge the lives lost and offer my deepest sympathy to those who continue to grieve their loss the deepest. #COVIDloss #ProtecttheVulnerable

1/6 #COVID19 has severely impacted seniors, particularly residents of long-term care & assisted living homes (accounting for >80% of all deaths in Canada). Loved ones & all those who work daily with our seniors feel this great loss. #ProtecttheVulnerable
2/6 As we mark #NationalNursingWeek I would like to thank the #nurses & coworkers: #personalsupportworkers, orderlies, attendants & other essential service providers who deliver care and services to our elders, parents & grandparents. #Nurses2020
3/6 #HealthCareWorkers working with #OlderAdults not only deliver health & personal care services, but also offer the companionship, personal interaction & human kindness that is as vital to wellbeing as any medicine. #COVID19 #nurses #Nurses2020

2/8 Prevention & control of #COVID19 in high-risk populations is crucial for controlling this & future pandemic waves. These outbreaks drive up the case fatality rate, accelerate spread, & continue to spillover into the community.
3/8 But it is older adults who bear the brunt of #COVID19. Though an estimated 20% of COVID-19 cases in Canada are linked to long-term care homes, over 80% of all deaths are among seniors residing in these settings. #ProtecttheVulnerable
