I was pondering Student Debt whilst dropping my son at Uni this weekend. #CPC2019

353,960 Students off to uni in 2018.

3 year intake means total is approx 1 Million.

Each paying on average £500 pm. for accommodation.

£500 Million PER MONTH on STUDENT DEBT given to landlords?
#CPC then I look around these Student cities and towns - and notice that the economy is literally being kept afloat by debt.

The only reason the shops are surviving, shop staff kept employed, restaurants, bars etc is Student debt.

But it's not real money - it is still future Government debt because the lending model is flawed.

Students will NEVER be able to pay the debt and to ask them too would be wrong.

At a #CPC2019 fringe on free speech with Philip Davies, Toby Young and others. “Blairite” BBC currently being bashed by The Telegraph’s Madeline Grant.
Philip Davies MP says that in the House of Commons there a “small number of women who say they’re fighting for equality but are not fighting for anything of the sort.”
Philip Davies says he wishes the Conservative party had less “flakey, pretend socialist” MPs who are “chosen simply because of their gender and the colour of their skin.”

This is an important point by @Femi_Sorry. It’s not about not being able to do business, it’s about competitiveness in the new trading environment and frictions introduced getting in the way of reaching our marketplaces. /thread #CPC2019 #mondaythoughts
Tariffs add costs.
Extra regulation adds costs.
Supply chain delays add costs and tie cash up as bigger stocks to manage the expanded lead time required to get finished goods into hands of customers generating turnover and profit.
Incidentally that’s at a time of year - now- where many industries are already stocking to the rafters for Christmas trade and intrinsic seasonal pressure on delivery capacity. The pressure on warehouse space is already hard to manage.

At a Conservative Party conference fringe titled “Challenging ‘Islamophobia’” #cpc19
The panelists here either don’t agree with the APPG definition of Islamophobia or don’t agree with the term being used at all.
This #CPC19 fringe title “challenging ‘Islamophobia’” refers to why people should challenge the concept and definition of the word Islamophobia, rather than actually challenging its occurrence.

I’m kicking off my #CPC2019 with a panel featuring Arlene Foster, Kate Hoey and Graham Brady discussing the backstop
Hoey - welcomed like one of the Tory Party’s own at #CPC2019 - says the backstop was a “deliberate attempt” by the EU to make the UK’s exit “as difficult as possible for us to leave”
Kate Hoey says she’s “very proud” that Boris Johnson has called the Benn bill the surrender bill

#CPC19 delegates in action, stealing & vandalising stuff.
I give you cowardly Conservative councillor Sam Smith & invite @MattHancock to have a word with him at #CPC2019 #CPC19.
I suggest he buys @Femi_Sorry a drink & apologises properly.
