Most recents (24)

I was 12 years old when I watched as a man’s wife ran into the restaurant I was at, yelling inside to all, “somebody, please help my husband!”

I saw the man slumped over his steering wheel in the parking lot (likely a sudden cardiac arrest).

I had no idea what to do.

And,
I also knew that that horrible feeling, and not knowing what to do, would NEVER happen again.

On April 19th I enter my 34th year as a #Paramedic. Helping others in the time of most need has been so rewarding.

Read this thread. And, as Lauren says, learn #CPR!
My most sincere condolences to you Lauren, your mother, and your family.

#urgencias #emergencias #urgenciasyemergencias #AHA #ERC #RCP #CPR #antiarrítmicos #ritmosdesfibrilables #FOAMed #FOANed #FOAMem

This is what targeted racial harassment looks like: nitpicking things like “smiled” or “wore clothes like a celebrity, as a celebrity” or “bought cookware.” It is part of the “gold digger” narrative.
This is common in #healthcare#professionalism” where there is hazing & bullying by racist &/or classist made up non-rules lacking standards…yet people are called “breaking the rules.”

It’s exactly how bullies operate: double standards, mislabel/smear, exclude, marginalize.
In the U.K., “BAME” includes the formerly colonized, thus making race constructs or power different from U.S. as latter had race-based chattel slavery.

Thing is, those formerly colonized have many who have internalized self hate & racism.

#CPR is an indicator which is used for #Intraday in Stock Market.

This learning thread would be on
"𝙐𝙨𝙚𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝘾𝙋𝙍"

Like❤️& Retweet🔁for wider reach and for more such learning thread in the future.

Also, an investment strategy is shared using CPR in the end.

1/24
Central Pivot Range (CPR) acts like a magnetic level for any stock/index. Traders use it for intraday but it works on higher time frame as well.
CPR is just the three lines which is like a magnet and price approaches these levels. CPR acts like a support or resistance.

2/24
What are these three lines now?

𝗣𝗶𝘃𝗼𝘁 = (High + Low + Close)/3
𝗕𝗖 = (High + Low)/2
𝗧𝗖 = (Pivot – BC) + Pivot

For intraday chart use previous day candle HLC. Similarly, for Daily Chart it would be Monthly HLC. For Weekly/Monthly Chart use Yearly HLC.

Buckin' #TouThao doesn't need any damned water if #GeorgeFloyd didn't get any air! We're having #DerrickChauvin's trial now, but you're not forgotten #Thao, you should've stopped the other 3 from #murdering #GeorgeFloyd, but you helped them! #ConvictThao!
At 09:30 #TouThao says he was taught #CPR at the police academy, recertified every two yrs. Why didn't he pull that skill out of his ass during #TheMurderOfGeorgeFloyd? The first thing they teach you is to take a pulse, did he take #GeorgeFloyd's pulse?
This meeting takes place in August 2020, it's warm in Minnesota in August, and #TouThao is there voluntarily, he is not under arrest, so all five of these men are #CovidIdiots because they aren't having this meeting outside and with masks on.

Everyone should learn #CPR 🙏 Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation is an emergency lifesaving procedure performed when the Heart stops beating. Immediate CPR can double or triple chances of survival after cardiac arrest.
Learn the steps in this thread.👇
Plz share to save many lives.🙏
Conventional CPR using chest compressions and mouth-to-mouth breathing at a ratio of 30:2 compressions-to-breaths.
In adult victims of cardiac arrest,it is reasonable for rescuers to perform chest compressions at a rate of 100 to 120/min and to a depth of at least 2 inches (5 cm) ImageImage
#CPR steps for child/ infant-
Open the airway. With the child lying back, tilt the head back slightly and lift the chin.
Deliver 2 rescue breaths if the child or infant isn't breathing. With the head tilted back slightly and the chin lifted, pinch the child's nose shut..

.@bankofengland is right that our strong vaccine rollout is essential for our economic recovery. And we will undoubtedly have a big bounce as things reopen. But let’s remember that is from the very low position of being 10% down. #economy

This initial bounceback will be driven by those who have been lucky enough to maintain or grow their incomes during Covid as they splash out with their excess savings and make up for lost time. #bankofengland #economy #thread
But vaccines can’t reopen businesses already closed, save jobs already lost, pay off the debts of over-leveraged SMEs, or plug the huge holes in the finances of the unlucky 3.8m excluded from Covid income support for the past 10 months. @ExcludedUK #ExcludedUK #thread

Hey, #FioNA, do you know the history of your colleague Anne (Resusci) as known as the "most kissed" face of all time?
In 1880, an unidentified young woman was found drowned in the river Seine, Paris. Due to her beauty, a pathologist at the morgue decided to make a death mask 👀 Image
In the following years, numerous copies were produced and, unthinkable nowadays, became a fashionable fixture among part of the society. Her enigmatic smile was compared to that of the Mona Lisa.

About #CPR, in 1732, mouth-to-mouth resuscitation was described first by William Tossach in Alloa, Scotland. Tossach resuscitated a suffocated coal-pit miner. "A man dead in appearance, recovered by distending the lungs with air". Image

First up @abbamamma discussing the size of the problem with dispatchers/HCPs not being exposed to high loads of cardiac arrest calls and seizure activity a confusing factor #RESUS20
Seizures are hard for lay responders and HCPs to recognise. You can check a pulse as an indication of cardiac arrest but this is hard to teach lay rescuers. Plus arrhythmia may cause a seizure. How do we tackle this?? #RESUS20 #CPR
Can AI help our dispatchers when trying to multi task: taking the call, talking to lay rescuer, dispatching EMS #RESUS20 is protocol with specific training or level of medical training a better system?

Systems save lives highlighting systemic changes we can make globally by engaging governments and linking up the chain of survival @fsemeraro1973 #RESUS20 #kidssavelives
The biggest impact we can have is probably with dispatch and first responder CPR. Bystander engagement is fundamental. Is this the weakest link in the chain? Start young and implement in schools #systemssavelives #kidssavelives #checkcallcompress #callcompressdefibrillate

@TiaTiaraymond @AlexisTopjian just announced a big change in the @HeartCPR Pediatric #CPR guidelines...ventilate 20-30 times per minute during CPR in children with an airway in place. Based, in part, on @CritCareMed publication by @SuttonB_ICUMD #PedsICU #CPRsaveslives
Take-home messages:

1. High-quality #CPR is the foundation of resuscitation. New data reaffirm the key components of high-quality CPR: adequate compression rate / depth, minimizing interruptions, allowing full chest recoil between compressions, & avoiding excessive ventilation.
2. A respiratory rate of 20 to 30 breaths per minute is new for infants and children who are (a) receiving CPR with an advanced airway in place or (b) receiving rescue breathing and have a pulse.

*Thread on #FirstResponders for OHCA*

In the last decade, numerous systems like @pulsepoint @GoodSamApp @SAUVLife @HartslagNu were developed to alert laypersons.

In this review, we provide an overview of published technologies and analyze their impact on pts outcomes.

#FOAMed Image
How does a citizens first responder system work?

Citizens willing to help in case of OHCA can voluntarily register in a first responder network.

When an OHCA occurs, the nearest ones are alerted simultaneously with #EMS dispatch to increase CPR rates before ambulance arrival. ImageImage
Our systematic review found 12 different systems (7 apps, 5 text message systems).

Activation radius varied from 150 m to 5 km. Also activation criteria, training required, technology used, and active time varied between systems and are summarized below 👇 Image

Umbereen S Nehal MD MPH: who is this person? Several people have been asking

A thread

Where am I from? Hooboy.
Let’s say, citizen of the world, human ping pong ball. Third culture kid. Genetic mutt

Born: 🇺🇸
🇵🇰 parents - when my parents born colonial rule, pre-Pakistan
To thoroughly annoy my Twitter bestie, @DrvanTilburg

Am an ENFP - a cross between Snoopy, Robin Willians, Ellen Degeneres, Dr. Seuss, Charles Dickens, Upton Sinclair

I border on ENTP - love new info and love to challenge in order to break through barriers or limitations
My great-grandfather was given title "Khan Bahadur" (brave). As a judge, a brown man under Colonial rule, he threw the book at a British attorney. "Learn the law" if in his courtroom. Hence my stiff moral backbone

When I started working on #scabies outbreaks in #carehomes some of my colleagues thought it was a weird, marginal interest. Now with #COVID19 it's changing. Everyone's realising that infection is a big deal in these #EndOfLife settings. Image
#Carehomes for older people are hard to study. Residents often have #dementia, staff are run off their feet, #consent to research is difficult - brilliant colleagues including @MedVetAcarology sorted this academic.oup.com/phe/article-ab…
Life expectancy on entry to a #carehome for older people is typically 8 months - these settings are largely #LastHomes. Everyone needs a plan for what will and won't happen for the common things likely to make them ill or deteriorate. #CPR probably not part of it

There is a lot of confusion out there at the moment with #DNACPR.

This is a thread on #DNACPR #DNAR #DNR highlighting what we’re hearing from people getting in touch with us.

(1/16)
We just had a caller from the South West saying her elderly neighbour who lives alone and is self isolating has been called by her GP practice asking to sign and return a #DNACPR form. Very little explanation or kindness by the sounds of it. (2/16)
The neighbour, who regularly phones to check in on this lady, says she has been really shaken by this when she is already suffering with loneliness worsened by the isolation. (3/16)
