Who is doing what with regards to #essentialcaregiver status. Who is promoting, what does it mean?
In March @NCFCareForum put out a joint post with ourselves and have been actively pushing for fairer visiting ever since - thank you #rightsforresidents socialcare.blog.gov.uk/2021/03/30/par…
The @CareEngland 'charity' & @ProfMartinGreen make noises about #essentialcaregiver but until the recent change in guidance most of their members have been very reluctant to follow it, why? they have denied their 'customers' their basic #humanrights #rightsforresdients
We hope @NationalCareAsc would follow #essentialcaregiver guidance but on @BBCBreakfast their vice president talks of pods/screens for a single case - ECG can still visit during an outbreak (2+cases) do they not allow the guidance? #rightsforresidents

Dear #TradeUnion movement, New data from Israel shows Pfizer Vax protection may not last so won't prevent a future wave. We urgently need govts to change labour laws to empower symptomatic staff (prior to testing) to protect others by staying off work without loss of pay or job
That doesn't mean a new lockdown, but empowering staff to make wise choices despite having poor job security or zero hour contracts. That may mean employers need support for the costs. Treating people like adults not idiots :-) #FreedomToCare
That such ideas weren't pushed a year ago is an indictment of how disconnected the middle class Left is from the people who have long commutes on public transport to insecure jobs. But the Left has a 2nd chance to wake up & save lives if this virus will hit again this winter

1/2 #Vaccines are amazing. They make normal activities - like #carehome and #amateur community #singing #choirs safe. Not just business. So what do you make of @DCMS ban >6 in new guidance? #COVID19 @DCMSArts
2/3 There is probably no easier setting for doing an #outbreak investigation than a #choir. @MakingMusic_UK & others have well developed risk assessments. Ask @BarbaraEifler Around 300k people sing weekly - more than football (more women tho....)
3/3 my earlier analysis on #choirs #sti even more relevant in vaccine era. It's time to realise the benefits of our #vaccination programme for #singing - a low cost and life enhancing activity open to all! jackiecassell.com/choirs-coronav… (also listen at 17 mins bbc.co.uk/programmes/m00…)

Nearly half of the deaths occurred outside of the #hospital setting, either at #home or in #carehomes.

Mystery woman knew. What a filthy piece of toerag.

Johnson's parsletongue on #carehome staff was skin crawling

Too cowardly to face his mess, #Johnson now wants to blame others.

The #CareHomeScandal top 5* Government acts of negligence
(of ~ 50 total)
Image
New to this?
You've got bits and pieces:

🔵 20,000 dead
🔵 Maybe they'd be dead anyway
🔵 didn't the Government throw a ring of protection around
🔵 PPE
🔵 And we defended the #NHS
🔵 it was unprecedented?

Sound right?

Congrats!
UKGov PR has worked.

What actually happened?
Let's just start this year Jan 1, to even do that you need to pretend the existing problems, effects of austerity e.g. reduced base level track and trace capability had no bearing.

They did.

But it helps isolate what Johnson and gang were directly answerable for

When I started working on #scabies outbreaks in #carehomes some of my colleagues thought it was a weird, marginal interest. Now with #COVID19 it's changing. Everyone's realising that infection is a big deal in these #EndOfLife settings. Image
#Carehomes for older people are hard to study. Residents often have #dementia, staff are run off their feet, #consent to research is difficult - brilliant colleagues including @MedVetAcarology sorted this academic.oup.com/phe/article-ab…
Life expectancy on entry to a #carehome for older people is typically 8 months - these settings are largely #LastHomes. Everyone needs a plan for what will and won't happen for the common things likely to make them ill or deteriorate. #CPR probably not part of it

My mantra has been : #COVID19: People who make bad decisions continue to make bad decisions.

Their latest = #carehomes

It's part of the "we're following the science" ritual. But are we? You don't need to dig much to say: I'm sorry, we ain't following the right scientists
I need a lot of tweets for the record. But if you want the short version it's this:

The scientists we need - the ones with feet-on-the-ground experience in slowing #COVID19, keeping care homes safe? Our Government has excluded them.

No, I'm not kidding.
let's get into it:
🤔🌍1/25

I shout at the TV, again.
Our "Medical Advisor" had just said at UKGov's #coronavirus press conference, we had nothing to learn from "developing markets" in the strategy for #covid19

She helped. No real scientist could ever say that
I'll try to make this interesting
