So much noise about the relationship between PIF and Clearlake in light of multiple Chelsea moves to Saudi. Of course scrutiny and transparency is always needed...
But remember, #CFC really wanted to keep Kante and lost him on a free. And they have sold Koulibaly and Ziyech for pretty modest fees and at a loss. Mendy turned down a new deal last year so was always likely to leave.
Perhaps the optics paint a conflict of interest or at least provoke important questions, and that’s right and fair. The connections can’t be ignored. But Chelsea have really just hit the outgoings jackpot here.

Clearlake and PIF have an excellent relationship. And the latter are driving many high-profile moves to Saudi on behalf of Al-Nassr, Al-Hilal, Al-Ittihad, and Al-Ahli. #CFC see an opportunity to offload some players to Saudi. And PIF have multiple Chelsea players on their radar.
With all these high-profile deals the club is often selected quite late in the process, but the aim is to populate all four clubs with stars to create Riyadh and Jeddah rivalries with global appeal. Next season there will new TV deals, and an English highlights show is expected.
These transfers are fluid. Player input matters, too, but PIF, and the Saudi Pro League, are driving many of these moves. By the time the club president flies in, it's often for final negotiation or even just handshakes and photos. This was certainly the case with Ronaldo.
Chelsea will advance their pursuit of Moises Caicedo over the coming weeks. Brighton will let Caicedo leave. This was clear when he extended. It's going to take around £70m guaranteed and £10m in add ons. Caicedo fully open to the move even without European football.🔵
Those close to Caicedo indicate nothing is imminent yet despite talks ongoing.

Understand that the Chelsea sale funds are not far off being released. Both the UK Government and the Foundation awaiting the money both want Ukraine to benefit as quickly as possible now, especially given the recent destruction of the Kakhovka dam.

Mauricio Pochettino feels the timing is right to join Chelsea and is excited by the project. #CFC approached him prior to appointing Graham Potter but Pochettino was reticent to move having relatively recently left PSG, and with the summer window shut.
Pochettino was also wary because #CFC didn't have a fully functional recruitment team. A key factor on being sold by Chelsea was Laurence Stewart, who led the recruitment alongside Paul Winstanley. Stewart worked with Paul Mitchell at Monaco and came highly recommended to Poch.
Mitchell isn't on Chelsea's radar despite being considered in the past. #CFC are very happy with their recruitment and senior leadership team.

Deal has been advanced for two weeks with Pochettino negotiating his terms along with his backroom staff. Chelsea encouraged by the two-way nature of conversations during the process. Pochettino really engaged and clear in his vision, which impressed #CFC’s senior leadership.
As previously reported, Pochettino has emphasised the importance of keeping Mason Mason, a summer clear out and bringing in proven Premier League quality.

Chelsea are hoping to complete the hiring process relatively fast now. There's no specific deadline, but there's a feeling significant headway can be made before the month is out. A recommendation will be put to Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali.
Pochettino was also considered prior to Graham Potter's arrival. He wasn't entirely sold due to starting post-window and in-season, and having only recently left PSG.
Bit more on Graham Potter's sacking. Line in the statement on a "smooth transition" is a reference to the parting being amicable (as much as a sacking can be) and some of Potter's staff remaining on, at least until a permanent manager is appointed.
There has been a lot of back and forth. The prevailing view earlier in the day (as reported! 😅) was Potter would stay on for Liverpool. The club even sent out a release about his pre-match press conference. But things changed rapidly following further internal talks.
The decision was led by Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart with Potter informed by mid-afternoon. Behdad Eghbali also present in London, but Todd Boehly is in America. Discussions thus had to factor in that time difference.

I thought Fofana was good in the circumstances away at Tottenham, while Badiashile has started well even if he has had the odd shaky moment.
There's lots of talk about QIA somehow pivoting from #LFC to #MUFC. Understanding remains QIA did not hold any advanced talks, or make an offer, for #LFC despite wanting to explore the football market. & still told a private fund will front Qatar's expected #MUFC offer.
What makes Qatar's interest complicated is a variety of groups and individuals have key input. Ultimately any offer is driven by the Emir. But QIA sources, familiar with discussions, say they won't be the face of an offer. As reported, QSI not directly involved either.
The Qatari bid is not expected to meet the Glazer's valuation for an outright sale. All offers are initial and further due diligence will be required to establish a more accurate valuation. Friday could easily be an anti-climax.
