1/ My response to the recent letter from CollingwoodFC players:
I don’t doubt the sincerity of players when they say they are ashamed of staying silent and have been shocked by the contents of the leaked #CFCDoBetter report. However, a few things should be noted:
2/ It’s strange that young players - who are not responsible for the administration and culture of the club - have issued an unconditional statement acknowledging harm when the management and leadership of the club have yet to do so.
3/ ‘All staff and players’ surely includes black players and staff, as well as players and staff of colour. Why should they be apologising for racism?

1) I’m grateful to all the people who have reached out to me in support - including CFC members and supporters - as well as all those who have challenged the Collingwood Football Club’s bizarre response to their own report finding them guilty of systemic racism.
2) It was painful to watch the club dig itself deeper into delusion and dishonesty at today’s press conference. #CfcDoBetter
3) Eddie McGuire’s inability to let go of the illusion he’s constructed of himself does not serve the Club, the code, or the community. It’s a pity his final year looks like it will be marked by yet another self-inflicted racism scandal.

1/ One of the biggest criticisms in the @CollingwoodFC racism report is that the club has always treated incidents of racism as PR problems to be deflected and shut down rather than dealing with them properly. This press conference demonstrated exactly that. #CfcDoBetter
2/ Collingwood's line is that they deserve credit for having the 'courage' to commission a report into their own racism. The only reason this report happened is because of the public pressure @iamlumumba single-handedly brought on them by not backing down from his claims.
3/ The press conference was a train wreck. Eddie and the board members denied, deflected, and contradicted themselves, each other, and the report. Collingwood did not release this report in good faith. They were trying to bury it and it was leaked.
