Before we talk more about #chinaprotest, it must be noted that the Mandarin version of "Glory to Hong Kong" has been claiming plagiarized ownership over the original.

Most songwriters don't mind covers esp. when the intention is the same. But YOU NEED TO ASK FOR PERMISSION
It's really that simple. You make a cover of a song that also speaks about the fight for democracy and freedom. That's great. But you claimed that you wrote the song, and that's plagiarism. You got called out on it. The right thing to do is apologize...

Contrary to popular opinions, I actually like that the song is getting covered. It'd be hilarious to see China's national Security doing a double take when they hear the "dreaded song".

But making a cover and openly refusing to acknowledge the original writer is just plagiarism

A student also said they were asked by their college if they had been in an area where a protest happened and to provide a written account.

"We are all desperately deleting our chat history," said another person who witnessed the Beijing protest and declined to be identified.
"In Hangzhou, the capital of the eastern Zhejiang province, videos on social media that Reuters could not independently verify showed hundreds of police occupying a large square on Monday night, preventing people from congregating."

Quick updates of #Chinaprotest:
- Police are stationed in many main protest sites
- Protestors started to be arrested by police
- Some of the early patches of protestors are released
- Citizens continue to pop up at street corners with blank papers

Things that are worthwhile looking at:
- Attitude of the central govt. News showed that some of the city’s COVID control have been relaxed, but that’s not the whole country. I believe Beijing has not yet decided how to react.

- Demands of people. Slogans range from “end COVID lockdown” to “Down with CCP/ Xi.” It would be interesting to see whether there’s a consolidation of what people want
- Overseas protests. Tens of overseas protests were organised in the past weekend ....
