Every MP who supports a watering down of the parliamentary standards requires closer scrutiny.
WHY? Because it seems likely that each and every one of them has either broken those rules or would like to!

In the case of Owen Paterson, "No previous case of paid advocacy has seen so many breaches or such a clear pattern of behaviour in failing to separate private and public interests”.

Let's look more closely at those MPs supporting a watering down of parliamentary standards on expenses, payments, and paid lobbying, in case they, like Owen Paterson, have misused public office for personal gain.

⚠️ There's some big changes to @Se_Railway services through #Chislehurst tonight and tomorrow morning, affecting trains to #Sevenoaks, #Tonbridge and further afield. The reason is emergency engineering work related to this pink rail - read on... /1
The rail is dyed pink so the crack you can see on the left can be seen more clearly - and it's the crack that's causing the disruption. It's part of a crossing, that allows trains to cross from one track to another, and the crack means trains can only pass over it at 5mph. /2
This shows the crack seen through a handheld scanner and you can see from the scale of it that we can't leave this in place for long and still run a normal service, so tonight our team from Orpington Delivery Unit is coming in to cut the section out and replace it. /3

The Metropolitan Police Service is currently experiencing an unprecedented amount of demand and will not be able to facilitate the road closures necessary to hold a safe service at the Chislehurst War Memorial by the traffic lights.
Therefore, the #Chislehurst Act of Remembrance will this year be held on the Village Green section of Chislehurst Common less than 100 yards from the War Memorial on Sunday 10th November at 10:50 (following a service in St Nicholas Church which starts at 09:30 - all are welcome).
The Village Green lies between Church Row and School Lane. Thanks to the Trustees of the Commons. As the Act of Remembrance proceeds wreaths will be acknowledged. After the service people can carry their wreath to the War Memorial crossing the roads in their own time & in safety.

20mph speed limit for #Chislehurst? Rather than trying to find ways of increasing traffic volumes and speed through Chislehurst shouldn't we be attempting to reduce them? A rough calculation shows that the distance from the top of White Horse Hill to Leesons Hill roundabout
(& Perry Street junction with Ashfield Ln to Bickley Park Road roundabout) is no more than 1 3/4 miles. Reducing the speed limit from 30 to 20mph (assuming travelling at the limit for the whole journey) would add less than two minutes to the total journey time. What do you think?
Interestingly 18 votes were placed within the space of just ten minutes on the second day of the poll and all were in favour of retaining limit at 30mph. Just saying!

Gates in Manor Park, #Chislehurst REFUSED! cds.bromley.gov.uk/documents/s500…
One objection: We spend our professional lives as educationalists intent on removing barriers that would differentiate and highlight status, affluence, privilege and opportunity.
We see first hand that our community is often disparate, disconnected, and fractured, and these characteristics would be exacerbated by having areas of Chislehurst appearing only for the few whilst disenfranchising and disadvantaging the many.
Gates would form a psychological barrier that would actively work against Chislehurst appearing and being a cohesive community.

Following ANOTHER accident on Saturday evening and YET ANOTHER this evening at the mini-roundabout on #Chislehurst Common, we would like to remind anyone who's listening that we came up with a solution in 2014 - block the roundabout approaches and the Ashfield Lane turning.
Four years on and the only things that have changed are that we have some coloured chevrons at the Ashfield Lane turning (that everyone drives over), more accidents and more hospitalisations. These are B roads and local access roads that are not designed for through traffic. Image
Our suggestions would make for a very pleasant open green space in the heart of Chislehurst. Maybe the residents of Chislehurst could start implementing the blocks themselves? If we're going to have flytippers like at the top of Old Hill today, let's have some useful flytipping!

BROMLEY COUNCIL ELECTIONS
Conservative Leaflets state...
#Chislehurst: "Remain amongst the lowest Council taxing Boroughs in Outer London..." WRONG!
#Bickley: "...Bromley's Council Tax remains the lowest in Outer London." WRONG!
A Band D Newham property is £193.94 less.
Newham, Hillingdon & Ealing, all outer London boroughs, (source London Councils organisation) have lower council tax than in #Bromley (2017-18). The last time that Bromley had the lowest council tax in outer London was 10 years ago - presumably when these leaflets were written.
What does the Conservative leaflet state for your Bromley ward? Image
