Sign posted at Molly Moon's Ice Cream near @SeattlePD East Precinct and now defunct #CHOP zone. "Police Officers: Molly Moon's is a gun free zone. Please do not come inside if you are wearing a firearm."
Not sure when sign went up, but reached out to Molly Moon's just to see the story behind it and reason they decided to post a specific message to officers.
Not unusual for businesses to prohibit firearms, but unusual to have a sign directed specifically at officers. Could be due to proximity to East Precinct.
I was just denied access and threatened with arrest again by #seattlepolice for not having ID while trying to get to my home in #CapitolHill. They claim they were given new orders this morning.

Since demonstrations at the East Precinct area began on June 8th, two teenagers have been killed and three people have been seriously wounded in late-night shootings. Police have also documented robberies, assaults, and other violent crimes.
Because suspects in recent shootings may still be in the area, and because numerous people in the area are in possession of firearms, Seattle Police officers involved in this morning’s response will be equipped with additional protective gear.

3/ I disagree with any attempt to politicize these shootings and use them as a justification for @SeattlePD to move back into the East Precinct after SPD made the choice to leave the building.

With no sign of @SDOTtraffic or any other city crews at #CHOP this morning, any kind of barricade removal will be a challenge. Those rebar loops have been cut on every concrete barricade near the East Precinct #KOMONews
A local structural engineering firm tells me having those loops cut could make it a little more difficult to move the barricades but that forklifts could still be used to haul them off. With roughly 70 or so barricades, I’m told it would take 4 to 6 hours to remove them #KOMONews

Digging in their heels, leaders and protesters at #CHOP say @MayorJenny wants these barricades around the zone gone by Monday at the earliest. They say they won’t budge. In fact, they’re starting to beef some of them up along 12th near E Pike, telling people to man them #KOMONews
One #CHOP leader says they’re in a stalemate with the city and that no progress has been made since this all started. In the meantime, some of the paintings that had been on the barricades are coming down in an effort to preserve them #KOMONews
Division clearly remains among some of these leaders. One woman just walked by and said the man I was chatting with “doesn’t speak for us.” Others have said some of the barricades will come down that aren’t surrounding the East Precinct #KOMONews

I want to be clear that the guy who took my phone and the CHOP security team never laid hands on me. The phone was grabbed from my hand but that was it. The injuries I showed on stream were from running away from the gun shots and falling over. A medic came over and helped me

I've lived in Capitol Hill and I've lived in South Seattle. The shootings at the #CHOP are not unique in their frequency or damage. They are unique in their location. Bringing police back will not stop them, at best it will move them south so CH folks can ignore them again...
I don't remember how long we were in South Seattle before hearing the gunfire. But not all the gunfire was from people shooting each other. Some of it was from police practicing....
See, there's a police range near the Rainier Beach/Dunlap area. You can occasionally hear the gunfire from Dunlap Elementary. Imagine being a kid growing up there and hearing people training to murder you.
