Meet 'Tabitha' another carer who spent 28 days off sick with Covid-19 symptoms and was forced to rely on charity for help. Since returning to work she often walks an hour both ways because "with one meal I couldn't afford transport" she tells @JackieLongc4

Both women asked not identified for fear of losing their jobs & accommodation. They are low paid, regarded as low skilled, & without question in normal times, low valued.

Tonight clap for Vivienne & Tabitha, and thousands of others like them, when you come out to clap tonight.

Susan is a home carer.

โ–ช๏ธShe feeds, bathes and toilets the elderly in their homes. Today half her clients had #COVID.

โ–ช๏ธShe takes two buses to collect PPE. On her day off. She says sheโ€™s not getting hand gel.

โ–ช๏ธSheโ€™s paid ยฃ13 an hour.

Dundee council says carers have access to hand sanitiser. Susan says itโ€™s like gold dust.

But thereโ€™s so much more to Susanโ€™s story..
Susan became a carer two decades ago. She has been caring for some of her clients for years. They are like a second family. She lies awake at night worrying she will carry the virus into their homes and they will die.

A PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

This #ClapForBoris thing. Put down your burning torch and have a listen.

Dominic Cummings has one technique. It's not complicated. It works like this

Find a group
Divide the group
Create conflict
Do what you want while everyone is distracted

1/4
#ClapForBoris is very much #ClassicDom.

You take a group - people who use #ClapForTheNHS or #ClapForOurCarers
Divide it - using #ClapForBoris
Create conflict - happening now
Do whatever it is he is planning

YOU ARE VITAL TO THIS PLAN

2/4
If you remove step 2 - you automatically remove step 3 and that means step 4 can't happen.

So, how do you stop #ClassicDom dividing the group?

Ignore him. Ignore #ClapForBoris. Get on with your lives. Do not mention it. Do not rise to it. IGNORE IT.

In 1962, John F Kennedy visited NASA. Amongst the room of scientists, he noticed a janitor mopping the floor.

When he introduced himself, and asked the man what he was doing, the reply came:

โ€œWell, Mr President, Iโ€™m helping put a man on the moon.โ€

Why do we bring this up? ๐Ÿ‘‡
Weโ€™ll get to that, just hold on.

These are concerning times for all of us, but there ARE positives to take from the current situation.

Firstly, institutions like our @NHSuk are finally getting the recognition they deserve for the care they give #clapforNHS #clapforourcarers
The outpouring of love for the NHS has been wonderful to watch, and got us thinking.

Itโ€™s time for us to shout-out our very OWN unsung heroes โ€“ the people who are still working flat-out to make sure people in Doncaster can live in safety.

Day 2 of family self-isolation has been more academic in nature: the kids have (unprompted!) sorted their books into alphabetical order by the first letter of the authorโ€™s surname. Iโ€™ll teach them MHRA referencing tomorrow. #KidsAmusingThemselves #workingfromhome @nickisapiro Image
Day 3 of self-isolation has been more practice-led, with a focus on architecture and engineering. Thatโ€™s just my take on things; the kids called it den building. #KidsAmusingThemselves #workingfromhome #KidsAtHome @nickisapiro Image

Day 2/14 of #QuarantineLife

โ€ข wore oldest shittiest clothes & didnโ€™t style hair because nobody is going to see me
โ€ข doorbell didnโ€™t stop ringing all day
โ€ข positivity beginning to teeter at times
โ€ข comfort eating more carbs than usual
Day 3/14 of #QuarantineLife

โ€ข caught glimpse of myself in mirror. Looking feral.
โ€ข been wearing same ancient clothes for days
โ€ข merlot has run out
โ€ข fresh tomatoes have run out
โ€ข tried feeling sorry for myself then remembered Anne Frank. This is 5* isolation.
