“Either we kill this treaty, or the treaty will kill us!”

"Put it simple, this treaty is a major threat to the EU energy sovereignty, #GreenDeal, and #ClimateJustice goals. This timely comic is of high importance to ensure the French Presidency will end the participation of EU countries to this ecocide treaty.” @ysaheb #ExitECT #NoECT Image
"The Energy Charter Treaty is the arguably the largest and most arcane obstacle to climate action. This comic will help you figure out what is going on through thoroughly researched cases. Read, share and convince your politicians to stop the ECT!" @JKSteinberger #ExitECT Image

I want to talk to you about blowdowns. (Be careful with that word in presentations. I've slipped a time or two.) 😳

During a blowdown all the #methane in a facility's system is released into the atmosphere.
Blowdowns may be scheduled for maintenance and repair, or they may be emergencies which happen quite often.

This video makes visible the normally invisible emissions from a pipeline blowdown

This @TCEQ emissions event report estimation covers a blowdown at an @EnergyTransfer #ClimateCriminals pipeline. The blowdown released 5866202.0 lbs of #methane.

Thread: Why the big fires of the past don't make the point that Craig Kelly thinks they do.

Yesterday, Mr Kelly distributed this map from a book I wrote in 2006. I had mapped the 1939 NSW burnt area from witness interviews and old news reports.
theaustralianalps.files.wordpress.com/2013/12/bushfi…
1. 1939 is a good case for Mr Kelly to choose. Judge Stretton in the following Victorian Royal Commission called it "a wicked attempt at state suicide". This was because the fires were all lit by people, not lightning.
2. The (albeit scant) evidence that exists for fire frequency across the Australian Alps shows a roughly seven-fold increase in frequency in the decade that the land was taken from its Aboriginal owners.

See thread exposing how these “bushfires” are really just crimes against humanity, nature, and the ecosystem. Is the establishment using them to justify more taxes, cause massive disturbance in our economy, farming, and environment? Apparently a “trillion $ opportunity” for some!

Horrific #Bushfires 🔥 are burning in every Australian state. No wonder people are angry + despairing about lack of action on the #ClimateCrisis

But w/out glossing over tragedy, here's a list of things happening right now in Australia that inspire me.

Australia is installing #RenewableEnergy at an amazing rate DESPITE federal govt resistance. We're on track to have ~ 30% renewable energy by 2021. Imagine what could happen with fed govt support!

The ACT is now on 100% renewable energy as of Jan 1st 🌞🌬️

At a press conference today on @NYCSpeakerCoJo street master plan bill, @MKramerTV of @CBSNewYork continued to parrot misinformation about cars, including calling Washington Heights a "transit desert" where residents "need" cars. Let's examine that (a thread).
First of all, @MKramerTV, is this what a "transit desert" looks like?
Next, check the Census for Washington Heights (pictured left). In that zone, only 7.3 percent of residents drive to work alone and 68 percent use public transit (pictured right). More people WALK than drive in Washington Heights, @MKramerTV
