The bigger the company, the bigger the chance that you are already using multiple #clouds. Generic public clouds (#AWS, #GCP, #Azure), private clouds (#VMWare, #Nutanix), and specialized clouds (#Cloudflare, #Vercel) can all be combined together for the benefit of your org.

If you have just a few GBs of traffic a month, then this would most likely not have a big impact on your #cloud #costs. But if you have more than a few GBs per hour, a #multicloud setup may bring you some surprises.

In #Java, two entirely different URLs may be considered equal. Sometimes. Why? DNS. It's always DNS. Well, Java works this way: "Two hosts are considered equivalent if both host names can be resolved into the same IP addresses". Let's dig (no pun intended!) a little bit deeper 🧵
Using dig we notice that these domains (Polish president and some dating site) point to the same servers. Scandal? No. CDN. These are #Cloudflare IPs:

We do have IT security folks known as Ukrainian Cyber Alliance (@UCA_ruhate_). They were the first ones who attacked #Russia’s IT infrastructure.

Thread, to a reporter, about #Cloudflare dropping 8chan: what effect would it likely have, and in which layers of the Net should accountability live? Short version: Decisions matter even if they don’t have a simple effect, and our ideas about responsibility are changing. 1/16
I think in the short term, both guesses are probably right: CloudFlare’s decision certainly doesn’t end 8chan, it will probably rematerialize in some form elsewhere; AND there will probably be some attrition of users, who either don’t find the new site or don’t want to. 2/16
But I do think we can get too focused on whether a single decision will or will not have a definitive effect, and we overlook the cumulative and the symbolic value of a decision like Cloudflare’s. 3/16
