Interview season has begun.

Will you be interviewing for a tenure-track job at an academic medical center?

Or do you have a #mentee that soon will?

If so, here are 10 suggestions for giving the ‘job talk,’ a usual reqt for tenure-track positions

1/ Find out in advance about the audience & tailor accordingly. A talk to a small research-focused audience (scientific seminar) will be different than a noon conference to housestaff or a Grand Rounds presentation to entire Dept. Best to find this out several weeks beforehand.
Suggestion #2/ Avoid putting in fancy animations or videos as they (the videos, especially) are fraught due to technical difficulties.

A thread about how #startups and #founder approaches to the startup phase profoundly impact their ultimate success and whether #coaches or #mentors help or hinder👇👇👇
Like ageing philosophers, new #founders often seek coaches and mentors because they want certainty.

Yet uncertainty is often the best friend of a #startup and tapping successful yet 'old ways' of (say) marketing, holds you back from discovering your own success metrics...
In seeking certainty, #entrepreneurs are looking for tried & trusted formulas so therefore they don't build the muscle to test & experiment their way to success.

As a coach I sometimes hear this as 'can't you just tell me!'

Which translates as; 'I just want the silver bullet'

Its been a trend these days to give #design #assignments prior to #hiring design #applicants, even though the design applicant is providing a #portfolio list of past works that is enough to judge his/her #thinking #process. Most of the times
such assignments are misused to collect #ideas for the project in action. We call it #Fakeathones. A Design homework that obviously have no scope for actual #UserResearch and #Usability Testing until hired based on one's opinion is not justifiable.
Designers and #UX are not idea generation machines. Idea Generation is a Team Work achieved by #DesignThinking, Stakeholder Discussions, User Interviews and many other such exercises. Designers, Design #Coaches, Design Mentors, UX #Strategist
