Different studies are designed to answer 3 related but *different* questions
1. Do masks work when people actually wear them?

We have good evidence that #1 works (RCTs in hospitals, lab studies,...]

To study the effect of mask-wearing in the real world, you have to first get people to wear masks.
The treatment can be a mandate or some encouragement.
That experiment can only answer

Dieser #CochraneReview lässt keinesfalls die Schlussfolgerung zu, dass Masken nicht effektiv sind um die Übertragung von SARS-CoV-2 Viren einzuschränken, nicht einmal die Schlussfolgerung, dass es keine Evidenz zur Wirkung von Masken gibt. Zur Begründung:
In dem Review werden 78 RCTs analysiert, 11 davon wurden in die Analyse bzgl. Übertragung von Viren beim Tragen medizinischer (OP-) Maske vs. keiner Maske einbezogen, nur zwei davon bzgl. SARS-CoV-2 Viren.
Diese beiden Studien kommen zu dem Schluss, dass OP-Masken die Übertragung der Viren effektiv und deutlich reduzieren. science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…

TL:DR COVID has increased social isolation, & risk of depression & toxic loneliness. A behavioural intervention helped older ppl maintain social interaction & networks. strong signal of effect in reducing loneliness. bigger trial underway. NHS is amazing.
