(1/6)🧐Character Consistency for Video Games in #Midjourney

🧍‍♂️Introducing Jimmy Jazz, a potential character for a Lucas Arts-style 2D adventure.

🧵In this thread, I'll show you how to do it so that you can apply it to your own projects.

(2/6)The tricky part is keeping our character consistent while applying variations.

So let's do just that. Copy the URL of the initial image (ensure to open it on browser first), use /imagine prompt:, and then paste the same prompt as before. But let's add a little modification /imagine prompt: [url_of_up...
(3/6) Now, do the same, maintaining the original image url, but modifying his status. Lets say... bowing! /imagine prompt: [url_of_up...

Official #conceptart for the "Skimwing" in #AvatarTheWayOfWater - Part 1. A Thread🧵

After hundreds of iterations and nearly a year of my life, under the guidance of @DylanColeArt, we finally arrived at this image to get the design over the finish line. Image
From the start, Jim had always described it as sort of a "badass flying fish". We always knew it was going to have 3 modes of movement: swimming underwater, "skimming" on top of the water in "ground effect" (an aircraft term I admit I had to google the first time Jim used it),
and full on flying for short periods: basically everything a flying fish could do...

Official #conceptart for the "Akula" for #AvatarTheWayOfWater. A thread 🧵.

On my first day after being hired, @DylanColeArt gave me my first assignment: "I need you to design a Pandoran shark". No pressure. Image
My imposter syndrome had ALREADY been riding incredibly high (getting a tour of the #Avatar2 concept art gallery had already put the fear of god in me), but after he said that I nearly passed out. After picking myself up off the floor, I got to work.
We went through a few dozen "blue sky" exploratory versions, and within a few days I found myself in a room with the one and only #JamesCameron. No pressure again!! 🙃

brief look at the #conceptart as a whole. Naturally, the name itself is pretty self-explanatory, covering all events where punters spin against fellow slot buffs, aiming to hit the best score and be among those who get a #Share of the prize pool.
windowsarea.de/mitglieder/uma… Luckily, it is never a “the winner takes it all” scenario, so the prize fund is divided between the top three, ten, or even thirty players – the bigger the event, the more participants can take home an award. The latter usually come in the form of cash or

Today's #gamedev tips is about the subject of #conceptArt, what is (actually) is, how to use it and busting a few myths.

This is a wholistic multidisciplinary look- so all devs may find something here.
So first, let's start with a definition. Concept art is anything used in the preproduction of a final product.
It usually isn't the final polished art work you may be used to seeing.

It can be stick figures, a top down scribble of the level layout or a photograph with some ballpoint pen drawings on it.

I have been able to add a lot of original ideas to this crazy reality, but the magic of Radlandia comes from the architect of this world, the writer/narrative designer @Lizzlizz

Do you all want to create a tips and tricks thread?

It’s always very inspiring seeing your creative approach to design and art.

I’ll start with one of my principle design sheets. This is how I approach color in my robots.

This is the result :)
Here’s another bot using the same technique.

Portfolio advice, from a lead who hires #ConceptArt

I wrote this after a weekend of portfolio reviews,

1. Like a maths exam, please please show your working. I want to see thumbs options, mid options and of course a final design.

#gamedev ImageImageImageImage
2.  Arrange your portfolio, I don't want to bounce about between subject matter and pipeline.
Your portfolio's narrative should be as strong as your work...
3.  Please make worlds that excite the viewer, make them want to go in and explore them, explain to them the interesting parts of the town, or the way the character's hat unfolds. How will this draw the viewer in?

Note to self: take it nice and slow when looking at artbooks.

The first time I used Tumblr, there were so many beautiful interesting images on every page that I wanted to throw up. But by the next day I was just BURNING through content and never looked back.

Time to slow down.
I was just leafing through Monster Hunter Illustrations 2 (WONDERFUL BOOK) when I realized I was blowing through it as if I was trying to speed run the entire book in one sitting. Of course there's a basic primal pleasure in looking at cool images, but I wasn't learning anything.
Things really open up when you slow down to smell the roses. Like, look at how this insect reads as an ant while having hind legs that distinctly recall the frog legged leaf beetle (sagra buqueti)
