Contact tracing not only cuts direct infection paths but can also prevent indirect spreading routes in groups. We illustrate how it can be more efficient than what would be predicted by models that assume a fully mixed population or a locally tree-like network structure.

A: When an individual tests positive for #COVID, staff reach out to identify their close contacts/public spaces they may have visited while contagious.

Based on this information, staff will determine if a contact is at low, medium or high risk of contracting #Covid_19. Staff will contact people who are at medium or high risk to notify them and provide instructions for self-quarantine.

Here are the academy's main suggestions that give us a sense of what lies ahead of all of us - no matter if you are German or not - in the coming months:
1. A second wave of #COVID19 infections has to be avoided by all means. We have to continue to follow basic rules like social distancing and increased hygiene. Where appropriate social distancing is not possible, masks have to be worn.
