Delighted to say that I’ve (finally) got my Masters from @BristolUni @cabotinstitute

I’ve spent the last couple of years trying to better understand UK media narratives and social norms around #FlightFree travel. Here’s a bit about why, and what I found 🧵
👉🏽 Lots of research on why ppl who fly don’t want to reduce flying, but very little on people who #FlyLess
👉🏽 Air travel responsible for around 12% UK household emissions
👉🏽 As @_wearepossible showed, it’s an equity issue. 15% of the population in the UK takes 70% of flights
Air travel isn’t just a choice – it’s deeper than that.

Cheap flights, media narratives and social norms (eg stag dos) have made air travel normal.

It's become entwined into our relationships and how we plan our daily lives.

A thread on
#CreditCards a " Yes" or a "No" ?

Decided to write an honest opinion on the usage of credit cards & whether it is "As bad as it made out to be" or "That good as claimed" !!

Disclaimer: This is MY experience & my opinion on the issue addressed at hand .
Points in favour
1) #Convenience !!
2) Lot of reward points .Yay!
3) Usage at airport lounges & movie tickets & the likes (subject to T&C)
4) Extra time to repay the debt. Duh !! Who doesn't like that!
6) Kind of a status symbol . Mere paas AMEX card hai ,
hain.... 😎
Points against usage

1) Too much convenience results in thriftness. We end up spending much more.
2) Reward points come with a host of T&C. Are we actually being rewarded also ?
3) Freebies to keep our inflated ego in check . Many a times changed/stopped overnight! 🤷

Betsy Devos: "The rule should be that kids go back to school this fall." Here comes a thread on schools, the pandemic, and taking action. @betsydevosed
Devos and others in the WH circle say -- quite simply -- children should be going (via mass transport) to local full-time, in-person instruction this fall.…
The immediate response so this should be "Yes, and..." BTW, the response so all these pronouncement-style non-actionable platitudes is almost _always_ "Yes, and..." Don't get fooled into playing the _opposition_. That's a losing gambit.
