Time for an update on the #coronavirus situation in Sweden! It’s been two weeks since my last thread about this subject, and the positive trend continues: Fewer cases, fewer deaths, fewer hospitalized and fewer patients requiring intensive care! #covid19 #coronavirussweden
First, the number of cases is dropping. We also see a declining number of tests simply because fewer people have symptoms. In the region I work, we currently only use a fraction of our testing capacity. The percentage of pos tests is dropping. #covid19 #coronavirussweden
The number of hospitalized patients have decreased. The number of patients receiving intensive care for #covid19 in Swedish hospitals has been less than 50 per day (total in the country!) for a few days in a row now. #coronavirussweden

So the whole #covid19sverige Swedish virus "experiment" controversy has been framed in terms of "herd immunity" and that's not at all what the conflict is (even @neil_ferguson agrees that it's not about herd immunity). #coronasweden
Rather, it's a conflict about an approach to risk management. Sweden's most serious critics promote an approach that involves using "easily" computable worst-case scenarios for virus death and acting accordingly... #COVID19sverige #coronavirussweden
... in an approach that uses the most drastic measures to bring about the most rapid suppression of the virus (the "hammer"). #COVID19sverige #coronasweden

Sillä, kuinka aikaisin intensiivinen testaaminen aloitetaan, näyttäisi olevan vaikutusta siihen, kuinka paljon ihmisiä kuolee. Eri maiden välillä on merkittäviä eroja.

Kaikki viivat lähtevät samasta kohtaa: se päivä, jolloin kuolleiden määrä ylitti 10. Poikkeuksena Islanti, jossa aloituspiste on 1. kuolema).

Kun verrataan Suomea muihin maihin, jossa on testattu tähän mennessä yhtä paljon asukkaita suhteessa väestömäärään, niin Suomessa on nyt 6x niin paljon kuolleita kun Norjassa oli samassa vaiheessa.

Today's episode of "We have no clue about how well we are handling this disease but feel confident about our ineffective strategy". It's tragic to share this news #CoronaVirusSverige #coronavirussweden #COVID19 SW 591; DK 203; NO 69 ourworldindata.org/coronavirus#th… Image
Extra points for the incredible intellectual dishonesty of @TheLocalSweden who less than 24 hours ago published this piece which was flattering towards the Swedish strategy and factually inaccurate Image
Why? 1) Average was done with selective use of evidence, only picking April 3rd through April 6th, and that's how you can get a an avg "a little above 40". Had they included April 7th (76 more cases) the average would be off
