As another year draws to a close, we want to reflect on some highlights. But first we want to thank our clients for trusting us in such difficult times & the brilliant barristers, interpreters, NGOs, experts & court staff we work with each day. We wish you a very happy New Year🎊
Here are our highlights!👇🏾
1. We obtained a Rule 39 ‘interim measure’ from the ECHR which had the effect of grounding the first flight to Rwanda. This battle continues for our clients facing removal to Rwanda. There will, no doubt, be more to follow in 2023.

2. We acted for @pcs_union & @Care4Calais in challenging the Gov’t’s ‘Pushbacks’ policy - a plan to stop migrant boats in UK waters & forcibly redirect them to France. A week before the hearing, the Gov’t withdrew the policy and paid our costs.

You’ll not hear the back stories of those on the flight who are trafficking victims; whose crimes were committed as a result of being groomed by #CountyLines gangs; and who were threatened and exploited as kids #CCE 2/8
The gov’t will avoid mentioning the failures on behalf of the state for those onboard whose criminality can be traced back to failed care arrangements by social services; the undiagnosed, the expelled, and those who grew up in a system stacked against them from the start 3/8

Yesterday was at a rail stn in Herts. YP who had arrived by train from London was being talked to by 5 Police officers and suspected of drug supply. Police were very courteous, repeatedly asking if he felt at risk, was being threatened, needed help

Transpired his brother was fatally stabbed in London some time previously. Young police officers chatted to him for a while, very sympathetically whilst continuously asking and offering, further support. YP was then asked to get back on a train to London, which he agreed to do...
Went to buy my ticket and could hear a commotion behind. A lady ticket officer had come from behind the counter to tell anyone that wanted to know that the YP was not a kid, that the police had just being talking to him as he was a drug dealer and to make sure he bought a ticket
