Dakshina Neivedyas

Havishyanna
Commonly called Ven Pongal / Kattu Pongali / Moong Dal Khichdi across states, this dish is very important in puja Niyamas. It holds highest rank in order of preferred Neivedya to Bhagwaan. This dish is considered as Golden Dish, as it looks so.
Moong Dal , Rice, Cow Ghee, pepper corns, Mustard, jeera, Haldi, Heeng, Ginger these are the ingredients with which the dish is made. A sticky version of it is made for offering to Lord and a dry version with only rice, dal, haldi , ghee is made to offer as Havissu in Yagnyas.
What ever if offered in Yagnyas is taken by the devtas and bless the prakriti with abundance. So this cooked form of rice is Havissu in many Yagnyas. There are many more form paddy is offered in the yagnyas/homas based on the padhati & Sampradaya.
