I am thinking about publicly naming

1) the male co-worker in my department who kissed me without my consent while I was standing by my car in disabled parking outside Gaines Street Pies

and

2) his wife, who witnessed her husband kiss me without my consent
I have not named either of these people for a number of reasons, but primarily: 1) these people taught me poetry; they brought me into poetry; they introduced me to the very art that I practice and
2) I would like to believe in a world where restorative justice is possible. I have spoken to a colleague about restorative justice and about whether that colleague thinks it is possible in this situation

Finally wrote my 200th blog post. Sure it may seem small but it's been a battle and perseverance has been my only soldier. Here's my blogging story:
In 2016, I took up blogging, back then it was simply a "make money through affiliate marketing" scheme. I struggled to write and wrote anything that came to mind, I was an avid researcher and my niche was wide. I was doing fashion, health, tech, and more.
As time went by I switched a lot, there was a time my sole focus was tech then another on fashion. Eventually, I started to lose steam.

I had written 30 articles and wondered why I wasn't making money. I spent a whole year not writing anything until I got paid.

1. Given that so many of the Old Believers seem to have left or are lying low on Twitter, I might as well get on with preaching to the Remnant Reprobate Heathen. Here’s some thoughts on #imagination from Henry Corbin, the great Shī’ite/Sufi scholar at The #Sorbonne, writ 1955-56.
2. “It may also seem misplaced to speak of spirituality in a study of the Imagination. We shall try to show in what sense this Imagination is creative: because it is essentially the ACTIVE Imagination … a theophanic* Imagination.” p. 6

* God-illuminating or manifesting.
3. “… the creative energy produced by the concentration of the heart (himma) … in studying Ibn Arabi’s ‘method of theophanic prayer’, the creative prayer that becomes dialogue, creative because it is at once God’s prayer and man’s prayer.” p. 40.

1/ THREAD. MFA in Creative Writing at Chapman University. Application deadline: February 1. That's MONDAY! Let me say a few things about our program first, and then I'll provide a CODE for an application FEE WAIVER at the end of this thread. #MFA #gradschool #creativewriting
2/ While some of our MFA students focus on one genre, many write across genres. @tryphena_yeboah published her first poetry chapbook last year with @AkashicBooks, has published stories @NarrativeMag, and is writing a thesis in fiction with thesis director Richard Bausch.
3/ Likewise, @lizharmer published her first novel with @penguinrandom while she was an MFA student here, her second novel is forthcoming in 2022, and she drafted a memoir as her thesis, with me as the thesis director. Lots of our students take a workshop in a second genre.

In recent years have started to question the traditional approach to #narrativemedicine. Who owns a story? What lens is applied? I get it is seen as important for “joy of practice” to tell these stories as doctors. Except, these are actual lives and bodies of human beings.
As in, I don’t know the right answer but I also don’t think we are asking enough questions of ourselves, our profession, our peers, our professors/attendings.

Ours is a profession that labels
>age 35 as “geriatric pregnancy” after all

My tweets today are devoted to rhymes.
Limericks with five short lines at a time.
To mark Edward Lear’s birth,
I’ll write tweets full of mirth.
It’s fun, so join in... if so inclined.

I’ll be sad to lose followers from this.
If you go then please know you’ll be missed.
Create free like a child,
But just keep your words mild.
And change rhyme so you don’t take the... mickey.

2/
It’s International Nurse Day as well.
Giving time now to show and to tell.
How such compassion and care,
In our need when they’re there.
Should be thanked more when we’re out of this spell.

[Day3: Creating & Sustaining Spaces of Practice]
Q: Have you created or been part of initiatives for #Science #STEM #STEAM #SciComm practice? Are you considering creating one yourself?

Today we'll discuss "safe spaces to fail" and scaffolded experiences to build up your skills!
Why do I care?
As a former academic & now in my work to spread adaptable skills in #scicomm through #comedy, it strikes me how little prep we get to teach or give strategic talks as we make the shift from undergrad to grad levels

How many bad habits do we accumulate b/c of this?
What are some bad communication habits in #Science #STEM you've seen, experienced, or are still working to overcome?

Here's where I used to struggle:
- preparing talks the night before
- going over time
- imagining the audience wasn't even there
- bad PPTs
- STAGE FRIGHT
