Lee: "The immigration system in this country is designed to oppress those who are not deemed worthy... I know DACA will help my journey of becoming of an attorney but it will not be enough in the long run. We need a permanent solution." #DACA #HomeIsHere

#SCOTUS #DACADecision thread: Many of you know my story, but for those of you who don't, I came to this country at the age of 9 from Colombia and lived for 13 years as an undocumented youth.

Trump rescinded DACA. The Supreme Court voted 5-4 saying he did this illegally.

We have a President doing what he wants strictly for his own gain.

What's worse is a majority of Congress, including Rob Wittman, blindly supported him and then approved separating families and put them all into detainment facilities. Families who are still separated and children still locked in as if they are in jail.
We have been failing these children. As a mother of six daughters, the idea that they could take my young girls and deny them even the most simple of essentials is sickening.

Extremely complex decision w many many subtle layers w huge implications 4 all aspect of immigration law: from reviewability, to 1252g, to of course APA 'arbitrary and capricious' standard. Practical: it is a mirror to the Census case -- sends it back for agency to consider anew.
Thomas dissent: "This ruling is incorrect and it will hamstring all future agency attempts to undo actions that exceed statutory authority."
