1) My father-in-law was in town this weekend. He was a proud participant of the Trump boat parades you’d see in Florida in 2020. He also loves @GovRonDeSantis but until this weekend was still supporting Trump.
2) He had no idea about the unhinged Truth posts attacking DeSantis, trashing Florida and praising people like Newsom, Cuomo and Crist. When I showed them to him he was shocked. He’s now fully on board #DeSantis2024.
3) twitter is ground zero in the war of information. And unless you are committed and actively participate, it takes some time for that info to make its way out to the vast majority of regular people.

2) Regardless of the clumsy start, the bottom line is this was the biggest story on the planet today, produced the highest-attended presidential announcement in history, and the campaign raised some serious cash. 3) After his Iowa swing two weeks ago, I heard from people they wanted more of DeSantis off the cuff, and that he was better interacting with people than they expected. I have been very quiet but have to step in here, Alex. To say that @ChroniclesMag and the Rockford Institute is Koch funded is intellectually dishonest. Chronicles via Rockford is one of the most purely “America First” institutions on the right, and was before it was popular.
I’m definitely not #DeSantis2024, but to continually antagonize people who are ideologically more “America First” than many in the Trump orbit but are sick of the drama is not a good strategy. Trump needs support from everyone possible on the right because 24 will be a bloodbath.
Also @emeriticus has an extremely valid point when he discusses personnel in the Trump Administration. I actually served the whole time & EVERY SINGLE DAY I witnessed loyal appointees being sidelined by Establishment hacks who didn’t give two craps about the Trump agenda.
