I wanted to share a recent case study on joint controllership that we published, and a few of the lessons learned. The case study can be found here:…
A small 🧵

A brief summary: We reached out to the @DPCIreland on behalf of one of our voluntary sector clients on a tricky situation: What to do when you’re a small SME or Not-for-Profit in Ireland inextricably linked to a larger organization outside of Ireland?
Since working with @cbridgeinfo our client has worked steadily to get their data house in order. They started life as part of a larger UK parent charity, but had since established themselves independently in Ireland.

--Thread of important quotes--
1. This is a very important document as the IMF represents a consortium of 190 countries and pushing for carbon-neutral countries by 2030.

They are sharing their views in which supervisors around the world will read and use this information to help form their opinion.
2. If you want a video overview I took 4 hours to edit and record this full document overview.

Timestamps and info are in the thread / Video description to make things easier as well!

One of the issues I raised repeatedly was the use of Garda authorisations for community CCTV (the legislation being very limited). Reading the DPC decision this was a clear issue.
DPC found that Garda authorisations were a good legal basis for 44 (LCC operates 401 cameras!).
The Council relied on local Goverment legislation to justify cameras in housing estates, but the DPC found that the law does not “empower the Council to carry out surveillance in public places”.

Interesting most #pos #dpos networks actively encourage vote buying & a race to the bottom (almost all of them) - block production is somewhat of a commodity but having it centralized and a networks direction/security being in the hands of the "cheapest" vendors is strange..? 😅
Think about it, as a stakeholder of eg. apple would you want a board be made up of random people that gives back their salary to the shareholders (effectively just taking no pay) or people that are qualified and vested in making the right decisions to grow apple stock price
most #pos and #dpos networks often have no other mechanism for adjusting pay to be fair but not exorbitant. Vote buying is effectively a refund on excessive pay. It works okish for that but is pointless exercise that results in lowest cost and not best consensus leaders.
