The name #Macbridge (along with #17Black) first emerged from an email discovered by a source of Daphne's in 2016 - indicating to her they were "at centre of the web" of suspected corruption. She sent a WhatsApp message to her son @mcaruanagalizia with the news.

Nach Informationen von @TheTimesofMalta soll Schembri zurückgetreten sein, nachdem er zum Mordfall #DaphneCaruanaGalizia verhört wurde. Der verhaftete maltesische Geschäftsmann Yorgen Fenech soll demnach in seinem Verhör den Namen des Kabinettschefs genannt haben.
Gegen Schembri waren in der Vergangenheit Korruptionsvorwürfe erhoben worden. Er hat ein Fehlverhalten stets bestritten.
