I passed the #AWS SA Pro exam a few days ago, and got some great comments from people, so thought I’d write up my approach to hopefully help others. The full post is below, but there’s also lots of great resources on Twitter #AWSCertified 1/5

Identity is critical and you won’t pass without a solid understanding. There are some amazing talks available online by @bjohnso5y. Give her a follow along with @mchancloud, the Developer Advocate for @AWSIdentity 2/5
#Database #freedom is important and you need to know your columnar from key-value from relational. For some reason #QLDB doesn’t feature that heavily yet, but it’s worth a deep dive into @dynamodb so make sure you follow @alexdebrie and @rickhoulihan as a minimum 3/5

I'm an #Egyptologist trained at @unibirmingham specializing in #Theban #tombdecoration of the 1st millennium BCE. For the past 9 years, I've shifted my focus to #Nile travel journals in late C19 and early C20. @nelcuw @ebadiary #dayofdh2020
I work with undergrad interns who help me #transcribe #primarysource material written by travelers to #Egypt including #archaeologists, #artists and the #hiddenwomen...wives, mistresses, secretaries and administrators. Our work began with the unpublished diaries of #EmmaBAndrews
We spent a couple of years to transcribe all 19 volumes into #plaintext which we then #encoded in #XML using @TEIconsortium guidelines which we use as the basis for #NamedEntityRecognition of people, places, boats...our #XSLT script returns an alphabetized index of all this info

Growth rate is key during a disease outbreak. The rate of growth in the the total confirmed #cases in #Canada seems to be showing signs of slowing and pulling away from the continued steep trend line seen, for example, in the United States (Green). #COVID19 #coronavirus 1/25
This is a +ve sign, but still very early to tell, esp. with an est. 1M+ #Canadians having just returned from travel, and #COVID-19 #testing only targeting >severe cases (due to rationing & backlog in lab testing), we don’t have a good grasp on the level of community spread. 2/25
The number of total cases is what we want to know, but the true number of these is not known. Not by us epidemiologists, nor by any other research, governmental or reporting institution. 3/25

🔴⏬ Here I start a thread about some Oracle Database concepts. We will see how far it goes - all questions/comments welcome.
🔴⏬ A database (or DBMS - database management system) stores (for short and long term) and manipulates (from many concurrent users/devices) your #data.
🔴⏬ #data is logically structured (tablespaces, schemas, tables, columns, datatypes, constraints,…). The structure is described by #metadata.

TIL there's lots of ways of #seeding #fakedata into a #SQL #database. You can either

A. Seed it with purely random data all the way
B. Seed it with realistic data
C. Seed it initially with random data, but tie that data into other tables realistically
When you seed a database, you start off with enum (that's like a dictionary that doesn't change in size). If you look at a database schema, it's the tables that are only connected one time.

Then you focus on tables that have only have 1 foreign key tied, tied to an enum
Example with a basic HR database schema. Start seeding the outlier tables first, starting with the bottom-left most and bottom-right most tables, followed by bottom-middle.

Thread (1/7): @TheEconomist published a Special Report Titled "Fixing the #Internet", which relied on #Centralisation as its core lens

Huge victory for a technical community that has spent decade explaining how the architecture & ethos of the internet are under attack.

6 arts!
2. "But like Sir Tim, many people have recently become more critical of it (...) At the heart of their disenchantment, this special report will argue, is that the internet has become much more “centralised” than it was even ten years ago."
economist.com/special-report…
3. #Decentralisation is ultimately a question of #democracy. As digital technology penetrates society ever more deeply & the two become ever more intertwined, the rules of the former will increasingly govern the latter" economist.com/special-report…
