We're standing by for a 4 o'clock briefing from @GovAndyBeshear. We'll tweet some highlights here in this thread, or you can hear the whole thing on 89.3FM (online at wfpl.org).
Beshear says July was the toughest month KY has experienced in terms of coronavirus cases. Last week was the toughest week. He says unfortunately that will have ramifications - death rates often follow a few weeks to a month behind cases.
Beshear says KY is still at risk of becoming the next Florida or Arizona. He says when people look back on this time, he wants KY to be front and center as a good example of making the sacrifices necessary to protect one another.

@GovAndyBeshear Beshear says he's listening to concerns about military presence. The state will reduce the National Guard presence in Louisville, on recommendation of the Adjutant General.
Beshear says he supports the release of any footage that will shed light on David McAtee's death. Says there should have been body camera footage. There's not. Michael Brown will be overseeing the ongoing investigation into McAtee's death.

A very personal thread on racism, & #GeorgeFloyd 🇺🇸 ‘I’m tired of grieving at the gravesides of those who lost their lives to racial violence, tired of families in the midst of the grief forced to set up campaigns for justice..’ 1/12 Image
2/12- I’m angry that 28 years after my teeth were knocked out by Glasgow police with the words “this is what happens to black boys with big mouths” that neither then nor since has any police officer in Scotland ever faced justice for racism- don’t tell me it doesn’t happen - Image
3/12- I’m tired of being angry,I’m tired of the bad memories, I’m tired of never being too scared to say anything when racism effects me personally, tired of reading statements of solidarity from the “great & the good” whilst there’s silence on #ShekuBayoh Image
