1. Pundits often note approvingly that blacks and/or Latinos do not vote as a monolith. The Irish šŸ€ figured out early that the machine (aka monolith) could move us from among the huddled masses to elected mayor in a few generations. Of course, being white made it all possible.
2. @TheDemocrats surrendered the #DeepSouth in exchange for Lyndon Johnson's Civil Rights Acts that began to make penance for America's original sin. The current black electorate is our investment in justice paying returns. @WhipClyburn
3. I applaud a black monolith backing an Irishman all committed to the common goals of justice and equality. I have nothing but optimism and hope for our future. We were faced with the challenge that could end the Republic and we are holding our ground. @TimOBrien @Mike2020

Despite #Alabama being at the epicenter of the #VotingRights movement of the 1960s, the state remains one of the most difficult places in our nation for an eligible voter to register and successfully cast a ballot. #AlabamaVotes splcenter.org/20200203/aliveā€¦
Since #SCOTUS gutted #Section5 of the #VotingRightsAct, #Alabama and localities have made it harder to vote by requiring photo ID to vote, closing polling places in predominantly Black counties and purging hundreds of thousands of people from voter rolls. splcenter.org/20200203/aliveā€¦

The 6 small bombings in Bangkok today have no ties to the insurgency in the #DeepSouth, that has its very own bombings. There were 11 incidents of violence in July, leading to 9 dead and 21 wounded.
This was a sharp spike from June, which saw only 3 casualties (2 killed & 1 wounded in only 2 incidents of violence, a bombing and a shooting).
There were 5 IED attacks, as well as an attack on a hardened security post that used either grenades or small pipe bombs (conflicting reports). All IEDs were on rural roads targeting security forces (1 killed, 15 wounded).
