The Long Range Land Attack Cruise Missile (LRLACM) cleared for procurement today by the DAC for the IN & @IAF_MCC , is a Nirbhay derivative that can be launched from existing UVLMs (Universal Vertical Launcher Modules) used to launch Brahmos LACMs.
The LRLACM will feature a RF seeker for terminal homing. (Nirbhay was a technology demonstrator project. It didn't feature a terminal homing seeker.) DRDO announced the existence of the LRLACM during #DefExpo2020.
Around 20 development trials of the LRLACM are planned starting 2023. The IN plans to procure 200 LRLACMs worth Rs 5,000 crore for the 30 IN ships armed with Brahmos missiles.

The capabilities of @DRDO_India developed #SAAW revealed at #DEFEXPO2020 are impressive. CEP < 7m using IN & GPS+Gagan. Breathtakingly, EO-SAAW, which uses IIR seeker for terminal homing, has CEP < 3m! Image
The > 90-km range with release parameters of 12.8-km height and 0.9M is impressive, but I doubt a Jaguar would ever achieve those parameters. The reason why it's being tested with Jaguar could well be availability of AESA for precise targeting.
Using Gagan for precise targeting is smart though it would make the weapon Pakistan specific, that too only for targets in close proximity to the IB. It's easy to understand why @DRDO_India was ready to go with #SAAW for Balakot strikes.

The most disappointing display at #DefExpo2020 for me was #AMCA for the following reasons.
1. ADA aims to field Stage 2 (situation awareness) sensor fusion with MWF LCA Mk.2; AMCA would require Stage 3 (Decision assist) or Stage 4 (Automated decision) sensor fusion. Image
2. Sanctioning AMCA without even conceptually conceiving a powerplant is akin to counting chicken before the rooster is hatched!
3. Current design stealth is compromised but not compensated with supermaneuverability. @IAF_MCC needs to insist on thrust vectoring with current LO
For 10 yrs now, the AMCA has remained on the design board. Even the current aerodynamic shaping has not been validated for LO through 1:1 scale model testing. There has been little progress in sensor development, let alone sensor fusion, engine development, let alone supercurise

#DefExpo2020 unearthed a *hidden* gem of indigenously developed technology that made me proud. It's been developed by a private sector defense manufacturer of repute. One year free IDP subscription to the first person who names the item and the company in the next 6 hrs.
If no one gets the answer right, the one who comes closest to identifying the weapon system and company will get the free subscription. To summarize - It's a major weapon system that the press has been silent about and has something to with firing and locating @shailendranrb
@shailendranrb If no one has got it right by then, I will tweet a photograph of the system at around 5 PM to facilitate identification !

The Au-220M strongly pitched by Russia at #DefExpo2020 appeared to have a twin ATGM launcher in addition to the main and machine guns as is evident from these two front and rear shots photos ImageImage
All Indian IFVs under development feature a manned turret. The automatic Au-220M would allow the guns and ATGMs to be operated from the safety of the armored cabin. Equally important, it would be possible to use the AU-220M with a remotely controlled IFV for complete safety!
The AU-220M is set to become the standard turret on Russia's Armata, Kurganets-25 and "Boomerang" IFVs. The Russian AU-220M pitch is indicative of a change in tack with Russia now starting to pitch major subsystems rather than complete systems

The pitch for the Buk-M3 at #DefExpo2020 is interesting because the Russian AD missile system is a @DRDO_India MR-SAM analog. tass.com/defense/1114975
The MR-SAM system has a very capable Israel - DRDO developed missile, but the Army wants the system capable of firing on the move (unlike the IAF MRSAM) The mobility requirement constrains the range of the missile to 50-km (as opposed to the 70-km range of the IN & iAF variants)
The BUK-M3, which is a completely different system from the BUK-M2, reportedly has a range of 70-km with a well developed mobility infrastructure. In view of the delay & constraints in MRSAM development, the IA may well be inclined to look at the BUK-M3 as gap filler.
