Its shameful to see how campuses of AMU & Jamia Millia don’t even provide a space where issues concerning Muslims can be discussed & the communal role of the state can be brought to fore. My talk at Jamia Millia Islamia about the Delhi Pogrom 2020 was finally disrupted. A thread+ Image
At 3:30 pm, I was visited at my office by a senior official of Delhi Police Special branch. He kept inquiring about the programme, the organiser & my talk. I told him very firmly that I will definitely talk about the communal role of Delhi police in handling the Pogrom+
At 5:15 , I reached the campus, only to find a heavy deployment of police outside gate-8. I managed to get in via another gate & finally reached the venue outside history lawn for the talk+ #DelhiPogrom

#HindutvaBurnedDelhi #DelhiPogrom

"They burnt our mosques, they burnt the Quran and even drank liquor inside", said a visibly moved Farhana. No one could hold their tears. Everyone kept crying in the hall. It was the third day of our relief at Mustafabad.
The next day I went to Madina Mosque at Shiv Vihar. The visuals were as if a wrath has been unleashed by monsters. The hindutva goons blasted the mosque with gas cylinders, even the fans melted down with the heat. After the fire cooled down, they came again to drink liquor there.
Empty liquor bottles and burnt pages of Quran lied everywhere on the floor. I took a burnt Quran with me as a grim reminder of what secularism does to minority in the country. This picture narrates the hypocrisy of the secularism of the country we reside in.

Speaking at @UCLA about #RSS, its importance, its violence & its origins:

"Violence in which RSS is implicated includes assassinations, bombings & even pogroms against Christians, Muslims, & anyone who stands up against its xenophobic agenda."

Full vid:
@UCLA "It’s no surprise that the #RSS is responsible for such shocking violence considering its ideological ties to European fascism.... The correlation between fascism in the West and Hindu nationalism in the East traces all the way back to the paramilitary’s origins in the 1920s."
@UCLA “'Traditional muscle power of the #BJP has always been the #RSS,' said a former US ambassador to India. Its role is much broader than that, tho. Today, the RSS doesn’t just provide boots on the ground to help win elections — it pulls the strings of the party’s elected officials."
