Just to be clear about *my* context - I'm not a men's rights activist, I'm not a feminist, I'm not a Depp/Heard supporter. I am a staunch believer that there are no 'bad people' but that people do bad things, and that everyone should be given the chance to change. 2/13
I strongly believe in evidence-based psychological understanding of why people do the bad things they do, and using that to inform what might be changed or nurtured to reduce the chances of those bad things happening again. 3/13

Amber Heard returned to the stand. Her lawyers asked her how this trial has affected her, and tbh it was heartbreaking. I know people are saying that they donât find her emotion credible but personally I donât see that; I see a very distressed person.
AH was asked about the mockery and harassment she has received from JD fans. She says she gets âthousandsâ of death threats.

Itâs a glorious morning here at the Fairfax County Judicial Complex. District Court 5J will soon be in session for the second day of Amber Heardâs cross-examination in the #DeppvHeard defamation trial. Thread follows.
The spectators are in court. The two partiesâ legal teams have just strolled past me into court and the jurors are down the corridor to my right being quite chatty (amongst themselves, obs)
Proceedings begin at 9am eastern time.
This was the line at Fairfax County Court for #DeppvHeard this morning at just gone 7am. There are no journalists in the main court today. People have been queuing overnight.
Court began at 9am. I had UK TV news duties to attend to regarding the first hour of evidence, and I am now catching up, whilst sitting outside court 5J with the other journalists.

Now the obvious thing here is that there is some sort of dark smudge on her right lower eyelid, a point in her favor, but that's where it ends for her. The smudge abruptly stops. Not consistent . Black Eyes have burst capillaries, leeching blood into the tissues. [cont.]
The pooling of blood spreads, extensively. It turns dark blue/purple and in combination with skin complexion, it appears black, It's kinda why they're called black eyes. It's a gradual return to normal colored skin as you move further and further away. That's Not all... [cont.]

1/ A lot of #MeToo advocates are showing their asses about the #JohnnyDeppAmberHeardTrial and I have thoughts. Framing this case as a zero-sum game against Heard, women, DV/DA survivors, #MeToo, etc. is unhelpfully reductive
2/ The more dogged #MeToo crowd seems to be struggling to parse info presented thus far because theyâve backed themselves into a corner by saying âbelieve all womenâ/ââdue processâ is the patriarchy inflicting more violence and traumaâ
3/ Many points being made about traumaâs effect on survivors, DARVO defense tactics used by perpetrators, etc. are valid, but could just as easily be used to support Deppâs testimony
