@fhirinn @GourlaySusan @Effiedeans This environment, coupled with the the resumption of EU membership, could indeed attract a boost in foreign investment. Leaving the UK would bring freedom from ‘big-state spending’ on issues like defence, or on a large, national infrastructure and a global presence. 2/30

Well, urged on by the PM on Channel 4 news, I took a quick look at 'their websites'. And they're scary places, let me tell you. First tho, there's a lovely video that tells you how exciting leaving the EU is going to be, with smiley people going over their residency applications

They decide that it probably wasn’t the best system and the @ScotGovFM stands up and publicly acknowledges this, speaking directly to the young people affected. The education minister @JohnSwinney acknowledges, apologises and rectifies it in a way that seems to work for most 2/5
As far as I know most teachers and pupils accept this and appreciate it (obviously anecdotal). Then labour Tories and lib dems (the unionist parties) say how terrible and instigate a vote of no confidence in @JohnSwinney. Then English and Welsh results come out. 3/5

One of the great fallacies of the independence movement is the notion that people may be persuaded by 'factual' economic arguments, even supposing such a thing could be contrived. #DissolveTheUnion
The truth is that, long before a person arrives at any discussion of economic factors, their position has been firmly established on the basis of ideology, identity, partisan loyalty etc. #DissolveTheUnion

Let's take a look at the hashtag #DissolveTheUnion, one of several associated with a proposed Scottish independence vote. There have been 25316 tweets from 3476 accounts containing the hashtag in the last 10 days.
Only 31 of the 3476 accounts with #DissolveTheUnion tweets appear to be automated (based on 24/7 tweeting and/or use of automation services). However, they are responsible for 3925 of 25316 tweets (15.5%). The majority of the volume is coming from the top three accounts.
The three most prolific automated accounts with #DissolveTheUnion tweets: @IsThisAB0t, @StillYesScot, and @FAO_Scotbot are all round-the-clock retweet bots.
Remember the four elements of the independence movement. The SNP is the lever by which Scotland will be extricated from the Union.
The fulcrum on which the lever if the SNP turns is the First Minister and the Scottish Government.
The Scottish Parliament is the solid base on which the fulcrum rests.
It is not reasonable for the Yes movement to suppose the the 'right time' for a new referendum is something which might simply emerge from conditions determined almost entirely by those most bitterly opposed to the very idea. #Referendum2018 #DissolveTheUnion
