Today Florida is reporting 184 new Covid deaths (record high) but "only" 9,230 new cases.

Those 9,230 cases are from 49,000 tests, a 19% positivity rate.

Two weeks ago, Florida was performing 88,000 tests per day.

What is #DontTestDontTell? This.
I’ll go ahead and post this in advance of the Covid-truther replies to this thread. Image
You'll never convince me that the sharply reduced Covid testing in both Florida and Arizona isn't intentional. Never.

Yes, Nigeria is absolutely my pack.

A thread ...
"a brief febrile illness" isn't just a Nigeria thing.

It's a Russia thing. It's a Brazil thing. It's a Mexico thing. It's an India thing.

It's also a United States thing.
#DontTestDontTell is still in full force everywhere in the world.

The silence out of Japan is deafening.

I think that Japan, like the UK, is pursuing a strategy of madness with #DontTestDontTell and #HerdImmunity.

BOJ is AWOL.
Japan, a country of 130 million, has tested 13,000 people for CV-19. If you don't see that Japan is one of the foremost proponents of #DontTestDontTell, you're just not paying attention.
There is no country in the world where I am more curious to see stats on hospitalizations for viral pneumonia over past 2 months than Japan.

I’m going to relay this correspondence with an Alabama radiologist as a Twitter thread.

It’s a crowded field, but no state gov’t has handled CV-19 more pathetically than my home state of Alabama. It's been total #DontTestDontTell.

"Ben, XY here. Radiologist at [hospital] in [small AL town] and [medical center] between B'ham and Montgomery. I could write a tome but neither of us has time! Thought I would share a few anecdotes.”
“Monday March 9. 50 yo patient smoker, recent travel, copd, coughing, was intubated, classic ground glass and consolidation changes on CT. State (ADPH) came out the next day and told hospital administration, "No need to test, didn't meet criteria." WTF. Who the heck is then?”

It's a crowded field, but my vote for most pathetic state "leadership" on CV-19 is @GovKemp of Georgia. Just breathtakingly craven at every step.

Georgia Dept. of Public Health press release: 5 new cases. 4 hospitalized. 4 community spread.

This is yesterday.

"Going forward, Governor Kemp and DPH will update COVID-19 cases on Twitter."

Can't make this shit up.

MA known COVID-19 cases went 41 -> 92 today.

We're at 100 tests/day, so 50% of tests are positive--indicating MASSIVE under-testing.

So far, effort at both testing + mitigation is worse than Lombardy at the same time.

@MassGovernor @MassDPH must start shutting stuff down NOW. ImageImage
Well before there were this many cases in Italy, 50k people were locked down (and it was nowhere near adequate). Boston needs to do the same, and more, ASAP. Cancel gatherings, make everyone WFH.

(Or they could end #DontTestDontTell but that would require actual state capacity.)
(Source on test numbers: boston25news.com/more/blog-late… -- "Roughly 400 people have been tested for COVID-19 in the state... Before, the state was only able to complete about 50 tests a day, but with the automated process, that number can be over 100 a day.")

These US infections charts are updated as of March 9 (John Hopkins data).

The US data is now an embarrassment. We are making the Chinese look credible.

Here is the total US data. Notice that fall-off in the daily change. <more>

NY/NJ

The data was supposed to be surging, which is why NY declared a state of emergency. But it is not surging, it is growing arithmetically. huh?

CA

Why is Silicon Valley closed? Why was Indian Wells (tennis) canceled? Why are 12,000 Apple employees at home? Case count is plummeting!

Please read.

There have been 11 deaths at Kirkland Life Care Center since Feb. 19 that were not transferred to a hospital before dying. None of them were tested for the CV19 virus.

What is #DontTestDontTell?

This.
How is it possible that I’m doing more investigative reporting on what’s happening in the Seattle and Nor Cal healthcare systems from my effin’ Twitter account than I’ve seen from any MSM outlet?

Where the hell are our newspapers?

Where the hell are our journalists?
Another reader DM on the reality of #DontTestDontTell.

Not testing for CV-19 over the weekend in Arizona. Because ... weekend.

US has 11 deaths from #Coronavirus this is far higher than 154 cases would suggest (Korea 35 deaths from 5,600 cases. FR+DE+SP = 6 deaths from c. 800 cases)

I am using 50m+ pop countries with great healthcare to compare

This reminds me of...

Iran 2 weeks ago...

There were about 10 deaths in Iran and apparently 50 cases. ViruTwit correctly said 'no way is that possible unless virus has mutated to a far more lethal strain'.

There is zero evidence the virus has mutated in Iran.

2/N
ViruTwit knew the number in cases in Iran was far (far far) higher, and of course we know what happened next.

Case numbers exploded, and they are still most likely hugely underestimating the numbers as they are unfortunately overwhelmed :/
