18 mths ago, I started out on a participatory research project with a group of volunteers, 3 @uccsocialwork Students and @CARL_UCC. We examined the needs of young people in Douglas, Cork. We had ZERO funding and very tight deadlines! But we got there!
We used creative research methods (photo-voice) and we interviewed minors - so there were a couple of nail-biting weeks when we were waiting for ethical approval! But we got there!
Energy, enthusiasm, endurance and, above all, solidarity got us through! Solidarity with young people, who we knew would provide expertise when we spoke with them. Solidarity with our community partners, who were committed volunteers dedicated to improving resources for youth.
