What does this TEE with CW Doppler across mitral valve show? What are the most likely causes? #EchoHemodynamics

1) Diastolic MR. The mechanism is due to a reversal in the AV gradient during diastole, ie a positive ventricular-to-atrial pressure gradient occurring during diastole. It typically occurs in mid to late diastole. Color m-mode is helpful #FIT #ACCFIT #FITSurvivalGuide

2) It's been reported in pts w AV block, AR, CMP, and those w long filling periods in atrial tachyarrhythmias. If the LV diastolic pressure rises abruptly and exceeds that of LA diastolic pressure, as may occur with acute AR, the MV may close prematurely. #FIT #ACCFIT
