#Thalinomics calculates food prices as a % of income of workers in organised manufacturing to claim that food has become more affordable - less than 5% of all workers in India are in organised manufacturing, which is one of rare sectors where wages have been rising (1/n)
what is really shocking is even for organised sector workers more than 50% of income needed to consume thali that meets dietary requirements as per #EconomicSurvey2020 - imagine how impossible it is for more than 80% earning much lower wages to achieve adequate diets (2/n)

#EconomicSurvey2020 asks govt to slash food subsidy coverage to bottom 20%.

This, when rural India is in pits due to lack of jobs, falling wages and rising food prices. If not for the food security act, we would see many starvation deaths today.
