Derek Jarman´s "Caravaggio": Chiaroscuro, Baroque and the ashes of Pasolini.
#DerekJarman, was a bold and unapologetic filmmaker and artist, highly influenced by Pier Paolo #Pasolini, whose work he emulated in his career. 1.- Image
@Dexfletch 2.-His films, such as "#Caravaggio," pay homage to Pasolini's aesthetic and thematic concerns, while also reflecting his experiences and perspectives as a #gay artist living in #Thatcher's #Britain.
3.-"Caravaggio" is a visually stunning and thematically rich film that remains a highlight of Jarman's career. It is a meditation on the power of #art to transcend time and space, as well as the ephimeral nature of #fame and #celebrity.

Thread by @JessicaMeigs (THANK YOU THANK YOU!)

➡️ Hey #entrepreneurs, #TwitterMarketing, and ANYONE who is #selfemployed

‼️EVERYONE should know this information that's being buried in the news cycle:

‼️The PRO Act, or HR 842‼️👎

The voting date is scheduled for 03/08! (aka THIS Monday!)

🚨Remember the heavily OPPOSED smack-down that #California imposed on millions of #independentcontractors?

That they are ‼️STILL‼️ fighting? The law that says you cannot even do #Rideshare unless @uber, @lyft, @Grubhub
... EMPLOY you as an official employee of the company. 😱

Even IF they could afford to do that (and these companies have ALREADY said they CANNOT,) you could not:

🔸set your own schedule
🔸where you want to work
🔸or any other #sidehustle - GONE

Not sure if you’re in this 📦?

I am one of thousands of #Volunteers who help via Social Media to reunite Found Pets and raise awareness of the #Missing and #Stolen. In the last month 170 Pets have been reported missing or stolen and that is just on one U.K. database #DogLostUK.
As Volunteers working 24/7 we alert groups around the U.K. There are groups for specific areas for Missing and Stolen Pets, there are groups for specific areas for Found Pets. There are also National Groups for Missing, Stolen and Found. There are groups set up by Volunteers

Having studied several articles as part of the #PeriodsandPatrakars campaign, we have come upon a pattern in the reportage around menstruation in India. This #Thread hopes to evoke and sensitize stakeholders to undertake measures to responsibly report on menstruation.
There are 2 main categories of improvements the media can make:
A.Use Inclusive Language and Evidence Base
B.Expanding the Range of Issues Covered
A.1) Inclusive Positive Language

Across several articles reviewed, it was noticed that when talking about menstruation, the subjects are always referred to as a binary word ‘woman’ rather than its more inclusive alternative ‘menstruators’.

After serving 19 years as Editor-in-Chief of Cell Cycle, I retired last month. The journal was started by Landes Bioscience (a small publisher who never published journals before) and me as #Editor. In the week when first issue was going to print,
a member of our board won Nobel Prize for ... cell cycle regulation. Great start. In a few years, Cell Cycle become the leading #journal in the field
Now I am proud to announce Michael Lisanti as my successor
tandfonline.com/action/journal…
Oh, no. I retired as editor of Cell Cycle not because I am getting older, in contrast, because of increasing number of new amazing projects (including journals) and forthcoming Philanthropic and VC activities

And now, because no one asked for it, here are my top eight #editor pet peeves. Style is subjective, and some places allow for more vernacular uses than others. But if I am your editor, no matter where I work, you can bet I will axe the following. Mild snarkiness incoming:
8) “first discovered” – redundant in almost all cases (how do you discover something for the second time?)
7) “centered around” – illogical; you can be “centered on” and you can “revolve around” but they can’t be mashed together
