I'VE HAD ENOUGH!!!

We've had #wakingwatch for over a year (£60k/month).

We agreed to fund a temp fire alarm system (£350k) to get rid of them. @LondonFire agreed the plan.

Now, mid-project we are told by @NFCC that the original plan wasn't good enough.

#endourcladdingscandal
@NFCC now say that we can't get rid of #WakingWatch without a total redesign including heat sensors in every flat.

This is obviously far more expensive + turns a 2-3 month project into a 6-9 months.

This completely changes the analysis of whether the temp alarm is even worth it
We are now FORCED into a choice:

a) cut our losses on the fire alarm and live with a £350k waste of money + continue to pay waking watch until remediation

b) pay all the extra for the heat sensors + the extra 3-6 month WW costs

And still no news on Gov funding for anything!

1/7 In Parliament today, a decision could be made which will make or break the lives of 100,000's of innocent leaseholders, whose only misfortune was to get on the property ladder and live the @Conservatives dream of home ownership, irrespective of their own politics
2/7 Imagine if your parents/grandparents had decided to downsize into what they considered to be a safer, more comfortable property, only to be told that not only is it unsafe, but it will take away any semblance of financial security they had and destroy their mental wellbeing
3/7 Imagine if your son/daughter/nephew/niece had worked hard to save up enough money to get on the property ladder, only to get stuck on the first rung or fall off even, destroying the future that they had dreamt about when they were given the keys to their first property

Some of the illogical consequences of @RobertJenrick @mhclg 'solutions' to the fire safety scandal:
1) Majority of leaseholders' issues are not cladding related, so not covered by any fund
2) Even buildings eligible for cladding funding have even costlier works not covered
2/4.
3) A 'them and us' division is created between buildings over/under 18m
4) Even where developers are proven to have been professionally negligent they're still not paying for remediation or being compelled to by govt. 'Hoping' they 'do the right thing' isn't enough.
3/4.
5) If just one leaseholder can't pay then work on their building cannot commence, so remediation never happens.
6) This is not a case of not wanting not pay (irrespective of the morality), this is a case of hundreds of thousands of people physically not being able to pay.
