Govt introducing a bill In the Parliament, The Criminal Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2021. It criminalises "false" claim of #EnforcedDisappearance with 5 years imprisonment. Your claim shall be deemed "false" if you're not able to prove it in court of law. (Contd)

The bill makes the perpetrators unaccountable. Govt is obviously twisting it and claiming this a bill to "address" #EnforcedDisappearances. Clearly a lie. Parliamentarians must not be deceived by the title. Read it before voting it.

No need to #ReleaseBilalFarooqi arbitrarily

There’s case against him & rule of law demands he be produced in front of a judge who’d decide his case on merit

To demand his immediate release is interference in course of justice since he’s been posting sensationalist fake news

/1 Image
Most of his reporting revolves around divisive issues, such as Shia Sunni sectarian religious issues.

If such reporting is authentic & objective then it’s fine, but when it’s intentionally mixed with spin & disinfo then it’s mischievous.

Don’t #ReleaseBilalFarooqi

/2 ImageImage
He has been posted false, unfounded & highly defamatory posts directly blaming Pakistan’s ARMY & the STATE for killings & murders without any basis & without any shred of evidence.

How is it professional journalism?

No need to #ReleaseBilalFarooqi until proven innocent.
