Fifty years ago today the #EqualPayAct came into force but the gap still exists and is starting to grow again. The economic status of women is poor. We need real action to address discrimination/oppression women face. #EqualPay50 Our manifesto of demands womansplaceuk.org/wpuk-manifesto…
Here follow some specific demands from our manifesto to address the economic disparity women face:
1. Take action to achieve equal pay, such as compulsory equal pay audits, the collection of sex disaggregated data and better enforcement of the Equality Act 2010.

2. Introduce, as a right, a Citizens’ Pension based on the Dutch tax-funded model, payable at state pension age to each long-term resident and set at the Minimum Income Standard.
Just 56 years ago, Congress took the monumental step of passing the #EqualPayAct of 1963 because women deserve equal pay for equal work. At the time, women were paid just 59% of what men made and while the gender gap has decreased, it is still far too wide. 1/
In 2017, women were paid just 80% of what men were paid.
Until everyone in our nation receives equal pay for equal work – regardless of gender, sex, age, ethnicity or language – our fight isn’t over. 2/

That’s why I support the #PaycheckFairnessAct to help put an end to gender-based wage discrimination and I urge Senate Republicans to stop blocking it and finally bring it up for a vote. 3/3
